The 890 is rev-limited to something like 6500 RPM until you get to the first service, so you can't really open it up on a low-mileage demo.

It just blinks at you when you go above 6500. After 620 miles you can adjust shift lights.

There was no limitation on my bike for the first 620 miles. I just chose to keep 4pms below 6500 for the most part.

Gotcha. I guess I always just backed off when it started blinking. :lol3

I could hear the KTM owners manual authors crying and shaking their fists in anger on my 2nd ride as the nanny light flashed angrily at me as I ran it up to about 8500 rpm.

But then again, I have been on a mission to kill the 790 since I wrote the check to take it home, so there is that...

    I'll admit I haven't opened the owner's manual :lol3
But flashing lights on the dash usually mean I'll back off a little.

Unless it's the TC light. :evil :ricky

I ended up trading my 06 950ADV for a '21 890 ADV. I couldn't be happier. I have a couple minor things to sort on it (front wheel is not true) and then I can start putting a ton a miles on it.
