Rabba dabba doooooo!
River is back up after the storm and a Typical sunset pic in ToC
Anyone know if one can park a Sprinter van near Pelican Spa? I’ve camped many times out at the State Park, but I’d rather not do that drive after a night of fun. I suspect the city doesn’t permit parking on the street, so I’m looking for options.....thx
What about Lakeview RV park by Caballo Lake?
I think that would be an even further drive than the park.
There is a parking lot across the street if you aren't obvious.
And there’s a lot at the bank next to Pelican parking.
Across the street from the Pelican? I’ve never been to downtown T or C
In that picture above the bank lot is at the top of the picture. It seems a lot bigger than the Pelican lot. I know it's on my path to the brewery from my house. I'm not sure if you could get away with parking there overnight.
We are staying at the Blackstone and there is parking on the street (where I park), couple of blocks away. Most side streets have some parking and a short walk to the Pelican. The Pelican lot seems to fill up a bit with those who have trailers.
All, the Pelican Spa still has 11 rooms available for Rubber Chicken Riders. To book these rooms call 575-894-0055 and tell them you are part of the Rubber Chicken and you will get 10% off your two night stay.
We have 90 riders signed up so far! There are 11 rooms available and only 10 slots left in the Rubber Chicken Ride registration.
Last Tuesday T or C received 2.5 inches of rain in 90 minutes, at least thats what I saw reported. Yesterday I rode down the east river trail to see what damage had shown up. The trail definitely looks different. The new water crossings from the last big rain are a little deeper with more rocks than sand now. I also took along a pruning shear to trim back a pesky dead bush on the bypass at the road washout. It was an interestng ride. I hope the mud flats are dry by RCR time. It makes for a good loop around Caballo lake and back to T or C. The damage isn't all like the pic below which is at the uphill where the road maintenance seems to end.
You can see the washout below. Some how I got tangled in that bush on the left when it stuck out more. When I jerked the bars hard right I felt like I was pointed at the river which is about a 10-12 foot drop off. I get a little paranoid with the growth on this trail. A few years ago in a RCR ride I was in a group that included Curtis and a few others. Further on down the trail from here the willows bend over the trail. I had my head down going through and didn't see the large branch coming up. The branch caught my water bag and pulled me off the bike. I'm sure it looked like a scene from a Three Stoges western. We had a good laugh about it.
Duggram, I am glad to the TorC Brewsday contingent out scouting for us poor working stiffs. I wonder if it did much to Chloride Canyon. Keep up the good work!
I'll be in Gunnison all this week, but when I get home I'll checkout Chloride and maybe Summer Time Camp, Whithington.
I’m staying at the cielo vista RV park, hope it’s a good one.
It is. I stayed there for a couple of months when I first moved here. It’s a short walk to the brewery from there.
Thanks Duggram. I hope to be moving there in about 8 years or so. Can’t wait to see New Mexico.
