Planning to bring my RV down on Thursday, and return with bikes on the same day. Just can't decide which to bring, so it may be several.

Thought I'd bring a cooler filled with Barley Pop :beer.

Maxvert, the level 5's are fun, but the level 6 and more will be more than most will want to contemplate! Enjoy!

Sorry Ken - it's 600 miles for us out here. Just not do-able with days off this time around.
Sounds like a hoot out there though.

I'll bring the WRR, and probably the Africa Twin. Maybe the 310 just to exercise it, but not sure.

Would anyone have a set of tracks for the area available ?
I've ridden many of the popular dirt roads in the area .
Hopefully I can explore some of the more remote areas near the border .

Thanks for the tracks. It helps show where you are. I have looked up your address on three different map online, and they each show a different location. It is about an 8 hour drive from Albuquerque. I will be arriving late afternoon on Thursday. I am looking forward to letting my old DRZ-E visit it's home state (it was originally plated in AZ).

Can you export those tracks ? to a Garmin or Google Earth ?
Looks like you have to sign in to access the data .

I think it's the House with the curved roof to the left on top of the hill .

2016 Dual Sport Desert Daze / Arivaca Outback Notes.

We’re still for the Arivaca Outback and Dual Sport Desert Daze this year and it looks like it will be well attended. Here are some notes to answer a number of questions we’ve been getting.

    o How to get here (35.33.76"N 111 21.03.26"W)

If you are using Google maps try #1 New Brunswick, Arivaca.

    Otherwise:

Take the Arivaca exit (48) from Highway I-19 south towards Nogales. Head up the Arivaca road: 23 miles.

Ride right through town and past the La Gitana. Keep to the right and drive another 1.7 miles to 18180 - at the 10 mile marker on the Arivaca/Sasabe Road. Right there is a long driveway that heads off to the east northeast (right) and you'll be there. Look for a big pile of rocks with a Panama Canal medallion on top. It is also marked with the address sign.

    · Campsites
o There are plenty of places to camp and to park your RVs and trailers, but first come, first served. If you want to stay in a more private setting, the Buenos Aires has 88 sites, BLM has a bunch of designated sites as does the Coronado.

    · Sewer/Toilets
o This continues to be problematic and I’m working on it. Arivaca is not on the regular stop for porta- potti services so if we can get them to come up here, it’s going to be expensive. I’m working on this and may have some other solutions (latrine trench?)
o We will have one bath/toilet available at the house and hopefully it won’t be over used. We are on a finicky septic system and anything you put in there that you didn’t eat first will choke it. So this means NO TOILET PAPER in the toilet. I ask that you police the wastebasket and burn it or put it in the garbage can for disposal.

    · Alcohol
o We do not provide alcohol and do not approve of mixing it with riding.
o I don’t have the van this year, but I’ll see what we can come up with for transportation to and from the La Gitana. I expect there will be plenty of cars and truck here so try to work something out with the owners.
o Beer and wine can be purchased at the local mercantile (a place you can buy what you need, but not what you want).

    · Food
o As always there will be a dinner on Saturday night for our guests and a breakfast Sunday morning.
o We are expecting some early arrivals so we’ll put on some chili and cornbread for Friday night and some oatmeal for Saturday morning.
o Besides that, You are on your own.
o There are a few options for food here: La Gitana, Gadsens Coffee, and BK Outlaw BBQ

    · Weather
o It’s been raining in southern Arizona. The forecast looks good for the rest of the week so things should be pretty well dried out. However, if the Border Patrol has been active they will have torn up the roads to some degree and that means ruts: a subject with which I am all too familiar. Be careful.

    · Mines
o There are some mine shafts on my property and in the Arivaca area that are open and very dangerous. Between noxious gases and unstable shoring, you are taking a big risk if you decide to go exploring.

    · Tech
o We have a place you can work on your bikes and chances are, there will be some very savvy people who can help you out and/or show you how it’s done. We have a few tools, but you should bring you own if you plan on doing anything exotic.

    · Swap and Trade
o I’ll try to reserve and area for swap and trade if you are looking to unload some gear… or are looking for a KLR 525xc with the 540 kit J

    · Riding
o We emphasize safety without being militant about it. So please bring your protective gear and WEAR IT.
o Be assured that there will be rides for of every skill level.
o We will also try our best to describe the various rides-trails-routes as so look at them and choose something appropriate to your riding skill. There will be some folks from around here that are familiar with the area and can show you these rides and maybe go with you. In addition, there are some of the rides listed on our website:

    https://sites.google.com/site/arivacaoutback/

Finally remember that this is just a bunch of like-minded folks getting together to ride, tinker, socialize and tell stories. It is an adventure rider’s weekend and like adventure riding, you are responsible for yourself and your needs: anything else is cream.

Looking forward to seeing you again and to meet you,

    Raven and Andy

Thanks for hosting this. I hope it's OK to show up thursday nite? I'm happy to chip in for the portapotti, or help build the latrine.
