Waiting for Binky Here's another take on interesting Mini's minimalist weighs 465 kilos Would have be even cooler with the 4 v twin cam BMW head and fuel injection. Shit it weighs less than a loaded for the rally adv GS
So mates what would one expect from a couple of bloody poms ! While checking on that , I noticed they treat us Yanks even worse Seppo Derogertory word used by the English and Australians for all American nationals. Derived from Rhyming slang (Septic Tank = Yank) Will those stupid seppos ever shut up bragging about how much lemonade they can drink?
Well Happy Easter if that's your sort of thing ! Agnostic that I am we're suffering the rise of Winter in the middle of a snow storm sweeping across the midwest we're scheduled to get 8 to 12" and have a miserable week It was 50's and a nice 150 miles at least 70 gravel yesterday. AirheadDan reminded me there's a new Bad Obsession Motosport video but not what I had hoped for Thanks Dan
A Wake For John Prine https://www.vulture.com/2020/04/a-wake-for-john-prine.html Thanks Luke for Exoskeleton rigs, your patience and this thread
Been following from the start-- Awesome build and I am jealous of their patience or dedication to do it right. On anther note I discovered one of the reasons why I can't Weld with the TIG. I can't FUCKING SEE. Found some old magnifier glasses that my buddy had left at the shop and tried them for a laugh. Voila! I can control the puddle. It's amazing!!! Now maybe with some practice I can stick some stuff together
The welder I used to help for experience was always after me to learn to TIG so I tried a little a helmet and trifocals are not a good idea depending on your problems readers under your helmet or magnifying lens in the helmet may help.
I wouldn’t claim to be much of a welder but the one thing I do have going for me is when I take off my glasses my focal distance is perfect for welding. With my glasses on it’s almost impossible to weld good.
I’m currently using 2.5 readers and a 2x magnifying lens in my hood. I can look over the readers and under the magnifier for no correction or multiple different combinations of correction. An auto darkening hood helps as you can move your head in or out to get everything in focus before you start. No point in attempting to weld anything if you can’t see all the little details that matter in making a proper weld.
Yeah I have this issue as well. If you can't really see the puddle you will certainly not control it. Have used some pretty serious readers for some time but now I have switched to bi bifocals..... I thought life would be good but alas.....thinking I just need a deeper set of readers. My optometrist might be able to steer me in the right direction. Jack and Buck
I don't want to turn this thread into a welding one but I think Luke would appreciate the discussion, maybe even call me out a tad. That being said I think this has been my problem for a while now. Even my MIG welds have been hit and miss lately. I have glasses for distance vision and had bi-focals made for riding so that I could read my GPS and still read road signs. I hate progressives but wear a pair for normal stuff. They sit on the counter a lot because my good focal distance is about two to three feet perfect for Computer work and car repair work. I only realized that my real close vision was off when I was inspecting a circuit board for cracks a couple of years ago. Borrowed some magnifiers to see clearly, I was amazed at the difference. Should have clued in sooner on the welding. Guess I'm going to add a set to my welder tool kit and see if I can gat a tad better now that I feel better about practice.
I can only add if you can't see the puddle and what its doing.....doesn't matter if its tig or mig or even oxy acet it just won't be pretty and for sure not a solid weld. Just saying...... Jack and Buck
