Was at my local wreckers wandering around and spinning shit when I stumbled on an old KTM.

I asked the guy out of curiosity and all he said was it was stuffed and if I wanted it for parts for my 640 I could have it for $400.

It was missing the front brake master cylinder and the altinator.

    Anyone heard of it?

Anyone know if anything is interchangable (I'm thinking wheels here).

It's a regesterable lc4, thats about all I know about it, the compliace plate says its a 500 gs.

    It's a 4 stroke...

If it was a 2 stroke it would be in my shed right now:evil

You need to stay away from that place!

The 500GS would be the bigger version of the old 400 wouldn't it? Not the newer RFS motor but the smaller LC4?
Trev, it would be good to see it running! :thumb

older lc4 ran sem electrics, cdi, stator, coil etc,etc....you got a 640 adv?,its got kokusan brand components,so more than likely not applicable to your rig, wheels may fit i dont know but could imagine there would be evidence of corrosion/siezed spokes etc, etc,if you want it,give the wreckers a good kick in the nuts and offer $100.....give the old girl a miss

My mate owns a 91 KTM 600 (not 2 stroke)(says 500 on compliance plate) so I guarantee if it a 4 stroke its a 600. They run a crap Delorto carby (impossible to start) Mate is currently looking for a FCR to replace it.
I will post a pic later because photobucket is currently down.

If your looking to make a dollar I would be interested in buying it from you if under $1000.00. Send me an PM if your interested.

I'll post that pic soon as all the others look like two strokes. (it is a four stroke isn't it?)

I had the 300EXC version of this bike - exactly the same look but a 300 2 stroke.

KTM were in a transition stage when they released these bikes (91 - 93) just before the current KTM ownership took over running the company.

    Great bike though

    Yep, that looks like it.

The carbie is on of the things I was looking at salvaging of it.

But If I do get it, it will be strictly for parts, it would cost way more than the bike is worth to get it running... Unless I can squeeze the DR's engine in there...
    Or the RZ's...

That thing looks Gnarly. (although the 80's colour scheme makes it look a bit girly...)

Shit... if it's a complete rolling chassis it must have potential... That USD front looks the business!!

Would a late model LC4 engine fit the chassis? Any chance of finding a roll-bowled-and-arseholed LC4 anywhere?

This post got me a bit motivated to find some bits for my DR... called a couple of wreckers and one reccomended this website: http://www.findapart.com.au/index.php

You describe what you want and it gets sent to about 150 wreckers, and if they have it they reply to you.. Cool huh? (Not as much fun as scrapheap challenge type scrounging tho..)

So there you go Trev... you could see if anyone has a running LC4 engine.
