Got your fix eh?
Yes all 469 miles were open. It looks like they did a little patching. No loose gravel.
Yep, got my fall fix end to end both directions.
Didja take any pics of the foliage?
I do have some pics, but the color is a couple weeks behind down there because if the hit dry fall they have been having.
Same as here. Just seeing some nice color this past week.
The overlook at the Roanoke River
I camped the first night at Otter Creek and night 2 a Julian Price, where these were taken.
HAHA you noticed!
The 1200 has a cam wear issue.. where BMW came out with a new part, but didn't recall the bikes to fix them. So mine being out of warranty it was going to cost near 2k to get everything fixed properly. Long story short.. I ended up with the 850 adventure.
When did you get it?
Is it BRP friendly?
Those are some beautiful views!
I got it on Friday and left Sunday for the BRP. I had one of the original F800GS in 2009 and put close to 70K on it.
The F850ADV has some of the things I liked about the 1200..Tubeless tires and a gas tank with a 300 mile range.
Over all it's a good bike. Not as much weather protection I would say as the 1200 and I need to buy an aftermarket bracket for my GPS.
The plus side is that it is lighter and more easily maneuverable for me at slow speeds etc.
Thanks! That road is full of beautiful views :)
There is usually a lot more color at the Linn Cove Viaduct at the time of my trip.
A view of the mile high bridge on Grandfather mountain from the same spot as the previous pic.
Beautiful pic! I remember some years back, on a fall BRP trip, getting off to go up to check out that mile high bridge-OMG that traffic was backed up for miles! People out of their cars just waiting to get up there and pay the entrance fee. Took forever just to get outta there and back to the BRP. Continued South below the Viaduct and whatnot, before turning back around to head back to Galax. While passing thru by Grandfather Mtn, it was snowing like a blizzard, then a few more miles North and was back to just freezing cold. Gotta love AND respect them mountains! Congrats on the new bike!
I took last couple days off with buddy to ride down Blue Ridge Parkway from Lyndhurst, VA to Roanoke, VA. On Wed. and Thursday of this week. Saw some peak colors. No construction on BRP.
