Well I'll get pictures up later but the front tire was scraping on the bottom front of the SMR radiator. It totally destroyed the plastic guard and slightly bent some of the fins on the radiator. It must be sitting slightly forward. Anther guy on my team was running the same front tire as me and didn't have any problems, so I'm not sure what was going on.

I also lost all of my coolant and I'm 90% sure it went into the motor. Through the head gaskets or maybe the water pump shaft seal. I've got a lot of work to do before I get the super beast running again.

Are there any manufactures marks on the radiators? I very much doubt KTM produce them, if you could find the manufacture...a group buy may be an option.

Awesome news mate, thanks for sorting this and sharing it. Very useful info for everyone I think. TIG welded a new bottom bracket on and re-fixed the top, which has the top tube cancelled, today by a friend. We started with putting an ITG filter on, the decided to remove the SAS as well so we made 2 backing plates. Then we saw the mess od radiator and fix that up as well lol once you get started might as well keep goingAlmost ready for Morocco in Dec.

Getting back to the issue of discontinued radiators for a moment, here's what I'm reading:
1- KTM has discontinued the SE radiator
2- the 990 smr radiator is a direct for except for the tabs that hold the OEM rad guard in place - doesn't sound too bad but apparently that radiator is also discontinued

    - what about the 990 SMT radiator? That bike was produced through 2012
    - what the euro spec 990 SM (assuming that is the same as the SMR...)?

    Any thoughts?

Given how we ride these SEs and the exposure of the radiators, we need to solve this dilemma

Unfortunately the radiators from other KTM models that are swappable with SE (minus the guard tabs) are also discontinued.

What we need is a manufacturer/shop/company/whoever to step,up,and make a radiator available for our bikes. I know I'd be down for one already and I'm sure numerous others too.

    Anyone ? Any ideas ?

P.S: I can send my OEM radiator (which is damaged) to whoever is willing to take up this so they can take measurement, dimensions etc

I just confirmed that KTM sold the 990 SMT through 2013 and its radiator is the same exact part number as the 990 SMR from 2011 so perhaps there's hope.

Can we get confirmation that the only difference between the SE radiator and the SMR radiator are the actual plastic rad guard tabs?

So you're saying that KTM has discontinued a radiator for a model produced and sold through 2013?

That's what I found out a few weeks back when I was looking for one to buy.

And yes, it's just the tabs that are missing. I bought a used one from an SM and had the tabs welded on

I looked up the 990 SMT / SMR rad from Munn Racing and they appear to have it though I don't like the price.

    WTF ??? 673 $ for the radiator ??? :loco

And is it showing instock ? Or at least in production/available to order ?

But still that price is despicable

Apparently it is available - I think the price is extortion...this radiator (when I searched for the SMR version - same part number) was almost half the price two months ago.

The 990 radiators won't work. Only 950 radiators. At least I think, I'm 90% sure at least.

The 950 SMR does work. The 950 SM should work.

I believe that 950se, 950sm, 990smr and 990smt rads are all dimensionally the same.
