The Honda XR400 has a cooler wrapped around the headstock.

Ok but does anyone actually think they can fit an oil cooler around the SE’s headstock?

I’m willing to get rid of all of the crap in the front of my bike and/or push the headlight shell up and forward so yes, I think it is likely that something can go there.

I remember the old one on my XR4 being very clean but have not seen one with my own eyes in years so the jury if out on that one.

Absolutely not with the stock headlight shell.

New issue with my 950 SE. When I wheelie over and obstacle and then give it gas after the front wheel touches down the engine bogs down/sputters and then recovers. Engine almost died a couple times going down steep downhills. Also the exhaust pops a lot on deceleration.

Bike starts and accelerates fine. Seems like a fuel issue? Any ideas??

Float height off? It's not your foot bumping the side stand switch is it?

I haven’t adjusted the carbs at all and it wasn’t a problem over the last couple of years. Maybe floats are sticking?

With the relocated side stand switch I didn’t think I could bump it with my foot. Now I’ll have to check. Thanks for the ideas!

Maybe? Hit some good g out jumps yesterday and it would choke after landing and giving it a bunch of throttle.

Then the stator died. So guess I need to fix the electrical before I chase the fuel problem. Or maybe they’re related?

The stator died? You sure it’s not the rectifier? Stator death is very uncommon (compared to rectifier)...

I have not tested anything so stator or rectifier. Either way
Anybody know what voltage the rectifier should be putting to the battery at mid RPM/throttle?

On mine, 14.3 - 14.7v. Correction: my dash voltmeter displays that ~5000 rpm.

Just checked mine this past week as I wasn't sure why my battery kept going dead. I'm getting just over 14v at most rpms.

buddy that cooked his lithium was over 15v with revs if that helps.
