Mine picks the front up in second every time I open it all the way, and is always hinting at it in 3rd...my buddy on a 950A who is proficient at wheelies insists that his power wheelies in 3rd when it’s in a proper state of tune, and I believe him

So what is usually the culprit when your low fuel light stops working?

It worked once, it went out, I ran out of fuel, now it doesn't work, I just ran it out of fuel again..

    Thanks for the link.

Last time 128 mi, this time was 136ish.

This time I was trying to run it down in anticipation of putting on a Safari tank. I got lucky and coasted/ choked/ restarted/ coasted it into the gas station.

    Hi all,

I know it has been posted before here but I can't find it in the long thread.
Does the 265mm shock from the 990R fit straight into the 950SE without modification? I know its 10mm longer but it's supposed to be the better shock.
A forum member is selling one.

    Thanks

Yes so long as you can confirm that it has the shorter reservoir (5 grooves vs 7) on the reservoir. If yes then it will pop right in though your seat height will rise about 12mm. Also something to consider would be to change out the spring from the R’s 150 to either a 130 or 140 unless you’re genuinely heavy and / or carry a passenger regularly.

Mine will do it in 3rd. I suck at it though.

Thanks Alongat. I just got the photos and it has 5 grooves, a 140 spring and done 8000 miles. Seems all good.
Now I need to get the price down a bit. What is a realistic price? They are quite hard to find and the seller has high expectations.

Prices seem to vary a lot. I have seen one on eBay in the US for quite some time now for about 800 or so...can’t remember and that feels waaaaay too high.

I got mine for 450 now. Seller will send it to me, looking forward to improve my SE with this shock. Will run with the mounted 140-265 spring as I am not a lightweight. :D

Should have posted this in the SE shock thread, great info here:

Is there a good recipe out there for improving the front brake bite/response? I don't need ABS because I can't lock up the front on the ol 9-fiddy.

Mine would do it in 1-2-3-4, fine from 60mph at the right rpm.
    My new shiny 790R can't, no way : D

Anyone know if the original plastics come from KTM with decals?

Without decals, they have to be ordered separately.

The original discussion was “power wheelie”, throttle only, no English, no pulling, no sitting way back, no clutching, no hill crests, just raw power wheelie. My 180hp SDR and GT wouldn’t do it in 3rd or 4th, my 1190r wouldn’t do it, and none of my finely tuned SEs or SMs would either. Now, all 6 of the aforementioned bikes will all wheelie just fine through the first 4 gears and at will. Done right, one of the SE’s (in SM mode) would stand up in 5th. Interesting you say the 790 won’t in 3rd or 4th. That’s disappointing if true.

Hehehehe ... I'm guessing this won't be the only disappointment.

Will be attending a ADV rally in Pahrump NV this fall where there will be several new 790 bikes with some really good riders. Can't wait to see how my old SE stacks up against them.

I'm about as excited for the 790 as I was the Africa Twin... which is to say I'm not... I'm not holding my breath they'll ever do better than the 950 Super Enduro and HP2 Enduro.

    Long Live the UberEnduros!

I'm assuming you've tried the 'press the front caliper in with your knee and flick the lever to pump it back up' shane watts trick? The KTM fronts are notorious for working air into the system over time.
