    Bump...
    Not much happens here eh.

With reference to the KTM outback rally thread, been meaning to report,

In repeated drag races (standing start, rolling start from 30, 60 etc) the good old Super got the jump on a 1190 each and every time, right up to about the 150k mark where the extra 55 hp of the 1190 would come into play giving it longer legs.
    Funny.
And the SE still sounded 1000x better.

As you know mate I have both and I reckon the 1190 eats the 950 on the bitumen in a straight line. On the dirt the lighter 950 would get the jump and then the 1190 won't catch it till the wheels stop spinning.
Like you said probably at about 150.:imaposer:imaposer

Mine has been sitting for a while, so I pulled the carbies and am doing a bit of a cleanup. Time to put her back on the road.

Just a question... what sort of oil change intervals do you guys suggest?
Did around 6500 on the recent rally, the oil was actually quite fresh before i changed it and filters in the weeks before i left, but thought it better to change anyway.
In reality the SE didn't work that hard and ambient temps weren't that high.
Am i good for 10,000? Stil looks quite good in the sight glass., but there's a lot of differing opinion.
I run Motul Cross Power full synth.

I bought my SE new in aug/sept 2006... I owned it for four seasons... @ 65,000 km's all up - including 3 x Sv4DE's, a handfull of local club enduro's, a 4,000 km tour through Swe,Fin,Latvia, Lituan/Poland, a 1, 600 km Navigational rally in Sweden/Norway, countless weekend road book rallies and day trip tours in the scandwegic wood and trail network...

Except for the initial 2000 km run in period (which happened to include a 800 km 2-day nav rally :lol3) I only changed the oil four times (annually) and I ran the recommended MOTOREX 10W/60 synthetic... but I reckon MOTUL or any of the other good reputation full syth oils are equivalent.

The bike was never treat with kid gloves - but well maintained (air filter done regularly afteer big dusty or over wet/muddy/sandy outings etc)... Always cleaned, greased and prepped.

The second owner (a mate) has done same (I borrowed it sometimes :D)... now well over 100,000 k on this LC8, and other than regular service, it's only major woes: a fcucked/clogged fuel pump (when I still had it not from not running filler neck filter and filling from Jerry can's at a ride), I change the clutch pack and slave cyl kit. (at about 60,000 km) after it's 3rd Swedish Four Day Enduro, two routine water pump seal changes (I deed eet before they chit temselves hombre:bandit )... the only thing the bike ever went through is tyres and brake pads... oh, chains and sprockets too. :D and it still runs like a clock...

So I reckon you are good to go... :D

Im minimizing my work output... 5 bikes takes its toll.
I'll do the oil when i replace the sprockets. Good for another 6 months i reckon

So even though ive got the cold from hell and coughing up lung oysters every few minutes, i took the big girl for a blast this arvo. Geez it's fun, about 6 weeks since i last rode it home from the rally, and i got home after a 30 minute loop with a huge grin on my face ( .......and dried crusted snot in my beard)
Hope i don't get a nice picture and demand for payment in the mail in about 2 weeks... but it was worth it.

I finished a carby clean on mine today. I'm sending it up to a mate's place for secure storage while I'm overseas for a while. Can't bring myself to sell it. :D

    If it's any help.
The front hub is the same as the EXC's. The EXC rim is a little narrower. Plenty of those around. The rear hub isn't though. A few years Back Titman racing had a sale on Talon hub/SMP pro wheel sets, I paid a little extra to have the Talon SE cush drive hub laced onto the rear exc rim.
