Starting in SW MO or NW AR area l travelled across to Texas (mainly boring & hot) to the border at Laredo/Nuevo Laredo.mexico-map.gif (900×686) (geology.com) Crossing was a hassle, the Mexicans acted like it was their 1st day on the job! Got into Mexico & travelled towards the east coast, & spent a night in Cuidad Victoria after passing through Monterray, nothing exciting on this leg of the trip to report! Tampico on the coast was a nice enough place to spend some time, but l wouldn't recommend going out or your way to visit. Next stop San Lois de Potasi which was a nice ride, but still not spectacular. My goal was to visit the annual festival at San Miguel de Allende (not on above map) just for no other reason that l saw it online just by chance......Now that place at that time of year l can recommend if you don't mind being kept awake for 3 days & nights solid because those Mexicans do like their fireworks goin off 24/7. I stayed there maybe 5 days at an American ladies Airbnb & enjoyed strollin the streets & chattin with friendly locals. The ride back l headed almost due north up the mountain range Sierra Madre Oriental; Sierra Madre Mountain System (Central/North America) | LAC Geo All in all a good experience that took me to gain more confidence of such a trip, & l never had any problems with any people while there. (other than general inefficiency by border patrol officials!) I returned via the Texas coast & stayed on S San Padre island & passed through Corpus Christie , Victoria & Galveston before reaching LA & heading due north back home....Approx 3500mls all told.
