I've only broke a handlebar when my KLR fall off the back of my truck once.
It was a tough day. Had what was called a "spectacular & scary crash". Kind of beat up & a little bloody, but otherwise okay. Went over the bars on a rocky downhill. Wound up on my back with the bike upside down on top of me, a good eight feet down from the line. Finished fourth in class, which by coincidence had four riders. But I improved as the day went on, and I had fun. I can't wait for the next one.
FTA Trial #3 today. Much better than last time out. Way fewer 5's and best of all, no crashes. Oh, and I got 2nd in class. Never mind how.
Next up Dec 30th in Naples.
Yes, congratulation. You have till next Wednesday evening to get your best story together on the “how”.
Just landed in Ft. Myers for tomorrow's trial at Lazy Springs. It's 82 freaking degrees and humidity is about the same. With no shade about this one's gonna be brutal.
Today was the triple nickel. FTA Trial #5 at Hard Rock, 5 in class, got 5th. Couple of good things though. My score was 11 points better than last time out, & I conquered my nemesis section of the day. There's always one. A hard-fought 3 on loop 1, an unceremonious off on loop 2, then a clean on loop 3. Had some good coaching from another in the group as well. So things are looking up.
Trial #6 at Hard Rock again on Feb. 10th.
When you get a chance, ride at Croom with Doc (& his son Docky) Jenkins. Both of them ride the Expert lines.
Always enjoyed the coaching from Doc. Made me attempt (albeit at times unsuccessfully) certain lines I would have otherwise not attempted.
He was the d00d that got me into the trials scene. Great d00d to learn skillz from.
Another trials guy, Chuck, is a great teacher.
Jack Hutson and Tim Cone are also good peeps to get tips from.
Chuck coached me up a ledge that I got stuck on at Trial #3. Got a 3 instead of a 5.
You're right though. I need to get down there for some practice days, something I have yet to do. And it shows.
FTA Trial #6 at Hard Rock this Sunday. This is the next to last points paying round, but I'm pretty sure I can lock up last in class for the season anyway. Come for the laughs, stay for the bandages.
My usual finish today, but still getting better. Score was 11 points better than last month, & if you remember last month was 11 better than the previous. Plus I had one section clean all day & another clean 2 out of 3 with a 1 on the last ride, and a smattering of cleans elsewhere. The rains came during loop 2 and made a noticeable difference in conditions. Everyone was collecting points then. All in all a good day.
MARCH 9-10 is Fun in the Sun at Hard Rock, a 2-day STRA event hosted by FTA.
You did fantastic! Great to see you today!
That's very generous of you. Thanks.
Saw you in action. For sure, you are the best CADS Trials rider!
An I have ridden with him!!!!!!
This weekend is Fun in the Sun at Hard Rock. This is a 2 day event & STRA's opening rounds for their season, so we'll have a lot of riders we don't usually see. Start times are 11 on Sat & 9 on Sunday. Trial has a 4 hour time limit so they'll be done riding by 3 & 1 respectively. Five of the 8 sections are either close to or a comfortable walk from the parking area, so it's pretty spectator friendly. Although two sections are up over Jeep Mountain adjacent to parking, so you may be a bit after that climb.
The weather is shaping up to be perfect so come out & see some of the Southeasts best riders, or bring a bike & give it a go. There are classes for everyone.
Have fun...I am out for this weekend. I got my middle finger caught between a Pile driver & Ground rod at work today....Got some fancy new Glue / Foam deal holding my finger together...no bending.
It'll be fun weekend of riding...Have Fun!
D00d, sounds painful.
Was it your right hand? #thoughtsandprayers
