Great ride, great report, great finish, thanks for taking the time to share
nice job nathan. my dad passed 4 years ago and would give anything to do another ride with him. we did a trip every year. i miss that.
Great report Nathan. Thanks for taking us along!
Nice job Nathan! Too bad I couldn't join you for some of the Colorado stuff. I am sure you know now but when you were at Animas Forks there was a much easier passenger car road into Silverton...
Glad you are ok and you guys had fun
Yeah...hindsight's always 20/20. We do have a heck of a good story to tell now though.
Like the XR tank. How much clearance do you have front the forks and triples. Can I see a picture from the front with the forks at full lock. Wonder if it will clear my 49mm RM conventional forks I have on the DR (43mm).
I mean that is really only 3 extra mm's.
Great read! Looking forward to more adventures from you two!!!
Great Ride Report Nathan!
Can't get any better than riding with your Dad!
Thanks for the free lesson what NOT to do/GPS autoroute/ on top of mountain in the dark!
Thought you'll end up sleeping in a cave!
Glad you guys made it down and Home OK!
What a great RR. You guys have proven you don't need a bucket of money and new bikes to have a great ride.
That's right. Nearly anyone on nearly any bike can do a ride like this. Just gotta get equipped & get out to do it!
Speaking of getting equipped, I now have these mounted up and would have came in very handy that night coming down the mountain!
What brand are those? The drs definantly need brighter lights. I hate getting caught at night.
They are Rigid Industries. Definitely working good for me so far.
AC909...Just read your ride report & notice id seen that DT some where ..We meet at a stop sign in COLO..on vacation...BIG blue conv van with MO plates; ADV er are ever where... LOVED the report...NEXT yr i leave the Family & bring the BIKES...........
Awesome report. I wish my dad rode. I am your same age and it you're very lucky to be able to take such a memorable ride with your pops. Remember that.
What headlight is that? And can you provide any details on how you mounted the XR tank to your DR350?
Glad I saw this RR. Thanks for posting.
YES! I remember talking with you guys. Amazing who you run into in our small world. Hope your trip went well also.
My headlight is a vintage reproduction from Emgo I believe. I like the reproduction one because it uses a modern H4 bulb. The tank did not take too much work to fit up, only a little bit of creativity. I did a write up on the installation on the big DR350 thread that is still posted.
I think the early Dakar/ Enduro bikes were some of the best looking and functional motorcycles in history so that is the look I try to go for. I try to keep everything basic, low maintenance, and very functional
I had a couple folks tell me my photos were off the thread and have fixed the problem with that. I am working on getting the pics back on the first report as well.
