thanks, keep watching...the RTW will continue Jan 2016, so i'll move it over to ride reports so i can add some dialog, but for now it'll stay here as a review, for the rest of this year.

I have still got thousands of photos to reprocess that i looked over when i was sitting in my tent and just said nope

i do the exact same thing, but now i have made myself turn around sometimes and ride back to get 'the shot' realizing that i may never see that view again

its a little different when you are like me with no timeframe on a RTW, its easier to take as much time as you need, but i understand that a 'scheduled ride' its easy to skip a shot or two...my advice ...don't

Some great pictures! Keep them coming.

Looks like you've been through a lot of different countries. How many languages do you speak?

I see lots of amazing shots from Texas, Colorado and Utah... These places I am familiar with and I love to explore them! I just wish I had the time and resources to really explore the world like you do. You're living the dream!

to be honest i made time, and my resources are extremely minimal, when i ride in the states i have been able to keep my budget down to $32 a day, outside of the states i was as low as $47 a day...lots of wild camping is the key

    Hi Paul;

I'm not particularly skilled with a camera but I do enjoy a good picture. I'm curious how much post production work you do on these shots and how much of it comes from having the right camera (and knowing how to use it). I noticed in one of your earlier posts the remains of the dead cameras and it seemed like a fairly broad range of gear. Any comments?

i planned on coming next year, shipping the bike to NZ then flying it to OZ, but we decided to change the route as China seems to be opening up a little more, so we are going to do central/ south america, then to europe then ride to you instead...

every single shot in here has post production of some sort, tonemapping/ HDR/ manual adjustments etc...i generally don't do much to a photo in my ride report except one or two, even though people like my shots i have always felt they are lacking a certain something, so this is why i'm reviewing then all over again, with post production you can find so much in a photo that you never new was there.

The real key to digital photography is the difference between a RAW and a JPEG...the JPEG is developed internally in the camera from the raw shot and how 'the camera' feels the shot should look.

This is why when you look at your shots when you get home they never seem to look exactly as you remember them

The RAW file has all the information in it unprocessed so that now gives you the option to make it how you remember it, or embellish the shot a little to your choosing...i personally like a very rich looking photo.

As for a camera, clarity and pureness of the shot is what you'll get with a high end camera, most of these were taken with a point and shoot, a $150 one, as we move on i change cameras to more expensive equipment and i challenge you to see the difference...sometimes its very difficult to notice unless you have the full sized original that i'm looking at.

if i were to direct you for a camera and getting 'more' from your photos it would be this

if you only want one camera... the Canon G16 is a very good platform, its a point and shoot (one of the best you can buy) but has great options and can also shoot in RAW, also small enough to put in your pocket

    post production software...lightroom version 5...about $150

how to's...watch these you tube videos, thy are the best on the net and free...link here this is number 1, master this then go to number 2 and so on

I studied photography in college in a dark room so i am still learning as well

to give you an idea of 'the shot' and 'the angle', go onto www.500px.com and look at the highest rated photos to give you ideas especially in the landscape/ travel sections, photos are everywhere just waiting to be taken

    Hope that answers your question/s...:lol3
