Very interesting; thanks for posting.
That is cool.
I have to agree with you about the house.
I felt a bit spooked looking at the pic.:eek1
Maybe with a friend and /or a 357.
I'd like to check this out. I have a book called Ghost Towns of Nova Scotia - and Renfrew is in it...just never thought to go there!
I've been to Roxbury, and I've also been in to New France (Electric City) quite a few times.
May have to rendezvous with you sometime and ride in.
cool adventure. I love this kind of stuff. Those, ah:huh, roads look like you need a paddle tires and pontoons on your KLR. And they say it's wet out here in the Northwest. I'll be waiting to see what your next visit is like.
"As for the house, I don't want to end up in some homeless squatters stew pot!" ,,,,,or another monument :eek1
Meh... Just be real quiet-like! They'd never know you're even there!
Seriously though, this is a really cool ride report, one of my favorites. I really wish I had something like this to ride to here locally.
i was just in roxbury yesterday my pal kyle and i went in,his Klr did great,my st1100 was a bit sluggish in the muck
Kyle thinks i've earned my ADV sticker and may not need a KLR...
Keep her out of the soft stuff and you'll do fine!
looks like some new signage up since last year. the orange sign used to be a grey tombstone, and the tall white sign wasn't there before. is it a map?
yep its a map i'll check i think kyle has a better picture of it.
the place is teeming with the largest mosquitoes i have ever seen and it is a bit creepy....just saying.
So a buddy and I are heading back into Renfrew tomorrow around 4pm, him on a DRZ and me with the KLR. If anyone in the HRM wants to come along, feel free to send me a PM!
Well, a buddy and I went back in, him on his DRZ and me on the KLR. Here's a few more photos!
Back at the campsite in the middle of nowhere, the one with the memorial.

Carrying on to the mine. Incoming wall of images.
Look at the nuts on this guy!
Someone setup a makeshift gold sifting operation.
The gold is found in the quartz in the area.
Lots of signs of amateur attempts to find gold by crushing quarts with other rocks.
It's hard to tell, but we found a bit of gold in this stone.
A weird tractor.
Missing the top end.
A VW Beetle
On the way out, I hit this doing about 40 km/h. Not fun. So I parked in it for scale.
I probably won't go back out there for a while since I've seen pretty much there is to be seen. Definitely a neat place though.
Thanks for tuning in!
thanks for sharing really enjoyed the ride reports
None of us has any more right to be there than whoever might be staying in the house. Leave it alone.
To bad the satellite image can't zoom in close like it can is some other more populated areas
very cool place I love this stuff also
Thank you so much. I love this report!
Sooooooo... I have to ask: Did you check out the place that you thought was inhabited???
Actually, I have a very anticlimactic ending to that story. I found someone who actually has land out there and he told me it was an ATV camp. So it's very likely there was someone there recently, just not at the time I was out there.
I'm sorry I don't have a more nefarious ending to that part of the trip!
Well at least you didn't end up in a stew pot! Like I said, amazing report. Thanks!
EDIT: Thanks for the post about the boy. I hope that memorial at the campsite lasts a long long time.
I wish I could find some information about him online, but I can't find even so much as an obituary.
Edit: This thread is all that comes up when I search for him now. Let this be a legacy to the man known as Adam Csunyoscka. Rest in peace!
(super friggen' cool in EC spanish dialect)
