It will be interesting to see what mpg and range each of the bikes will get. On my recent road trip, with my F700 loaded like a pig, I averaged 58.5 mpg (range of 245 miles), but I try to keep it under 75 mph on freeways, and prefer slower highways. That included going over the rockies, and fighting some nasty winds. However, I'm only 140 lbs and pretty easy on the throttle.

Each of the bikes you're looking at would work great. We'll all be posting our thoughts...yay or nay...about each of the bikes.

Taff and I went for a long ride through the mountains on back roads (mostly), a few miles of Interstate, and hills the other day. Really easy riding, no wind, and speeds no more than about 60 mph. We both were unloaded. My 700 used 2.58 gallons for 194 miles...75.19 mpg. Taff said he averaged 52 mpg on his Africa Twin.

Wow that is wicked high gas mileage on the 700. With my 700 I usually get around 60MPG around town with mixed driving. Just did a trip a couple of weeks ago, unloaded and got 265.6 miles/4.574gallons = 58 MPG. Yours is very good gas mileage.

On my way to Ray's in Prince George today. John Bailey is tagging along. Icefields Parkway is majestic. Towering snowy mountains.

Hmmm. :hmmmmm Just one pair of boots. Spent so much on all that Klim gear you couldn't afford another pair? I can hear it now - Gary and Kaye in the morning: "You wore the boots yesterday, I get them today!" :lol3

Seriously... looking good. Mighty good. Can't wait for the circus to get rolling. Might have to put a sign up at Fast Eddy's - "Circus Coming To Town".

Haha good morning Jack. Kaye and Gray got in late last night. All the stuff fits well except Gary's Klim suit. No problem, we'll order another jacket and pants from Revzilla and have them shipped ahead to Tom's house in Great Falls. Only a little problem and all is well :thumb
