Why build a rally bike with a front end as sexy as the current 450 to then turn around and bolt that hideous, busted arse 790 nose to the current crop of adv bikes? That is poor marketing IMHO.

That Toby pic looks more like 890.

If it is 890 - isn’t that sector already crowded ?

    790, 1090 and now 890

    Twin front discs though ?

I haven’t kept up with Ktm twin tech - are they simply playing shrinkies with a 790 engine or bolting two 250cc motors together ?

    Slimmer... than a 790 :rofl

... that's a bit like saying Dolly Parton's boobs are "slimmer" than Oprah Winfrey's arse...

all things relative... but the (blurry) shot of the bike on TP's facebook post, looks a lot like a (blurry) Acrapovic equipped 790 Adventure R special edition. Just that there might be a new 500 parallel twin donk tucked in there behind Dolly's tits though... :hmmmmm

Good catch... it is most likely the bike is @ the 500cc mark...

A new downsized version of the 790 parallel twin...? But the same basic chassis package??? Lighter than the 790R...?

I'm guessing - not by much... maybe 6 to 8 kilo's lighter at best... So around 180 kg's +/- about two kilo's either way... :hmmmmm So it's still a (baby) porker roadbike, dressed up in DAKAR clothes... :augie

The KTM 500 EXC crowd have still got nothing to rejoice over... :lol3

1.5 hours and counting ...how many more guesses can we squeeze in?

13 years since the last great ktm, what could possibly go wrong?

    Well it’s an 890.

Has Ktm even acknowledged that their adv headlight looks really shite?

This is what Chris Birch had to say:

The new KTM 890 ADVENTURE R is here and KTM were good enough to let me have a taste.
I've only had a couple of days on it, some highway riding, a little Auckland city traffic but most importantly a day of back roads and trails before I had to lock it away until the launch. I'm in love already.
The increase in torque is instantly noticeable, the heavier crank weight gives it a smoother and more tractable power delivery that makes it an easier and faster bike in off road. The improvements to the quick shifter+ are very noticeable. Plus, in my opinion it looks sexy as hell. I can't wait to get it dialled in and head in to the hills for some proper adventures, its going to be a good summer!
