They're slowly working their way up to a 1000cc parallel twin.

They just make so much more sense in every respect over a v twin except maybe width

Wow .... amazing new bike! Does it have bold new graphics to go with the extra 100cc.

I’ll pass on this one. I’ve already put my deposit down on the new 2021 990 Adventure Rallye Raid Super Extreme Desert Edition with 200hp, front and rear split tanks, fully electronic adjustable suspension and only 167kg wet weight. They’re only making 7 so you’d better hurry up if you’re interested. KTM guaranteed that Chris Birch will say it’s the best bike he’s ever ridden.

Another heavy adventure bike they keep trying to make dirt worthy. They need to take the dirt bike and make it adventure worthy. But im sure they will sell them all. It would be fun, and has a place, but not different enough from all the other offerings.

Absolutely mate. The guys I ride with and I were just having this discussion this morning. There is a huge market for a simple, less expensive Rally type bike with minimum electronics and Dakar styling.

KTM (and Husky) have pretty much lost me, even on the dirt bikes which has always been my favourite riding. I am not paying 20k for a a 300 two stroke, and this is where the pricing will be soon.

My current TPI has already had the sub frame replaced because Husky (KTM) used a cheap plastic thing marketed as "lightweight". I probably should have kept my 2016 300 TE. Nothing ever failed on that bike.

None of these new bikes appeal to me at all and I keep looking at my old 800GSA and despite its age (and boring motor) it's just a good, well made bike and I love riding it. Why would I change ?

Hang on mate... wasn't the 790 the one to get ? :lol3:lol3:lol3

Differences between 790 and 890 rally seem to be capacity, weight, and Euro 5 emissions. 100hp vs 105, torque probably a bit more. Despite Chris Burch's paid advertorial, there'll be greater crank mass and inertia. There was 500 790's, looks like 700 890's for global distribution.
    And probably cost. $37k?
Why make bigger heavier bikes? Is that what KTM are hearing from the masses? Or aren't they listening?

At the 2016 KTM rally, I spoke to Jeff about the rumours of a new mid capacity adventure bike. He said KTM know they CAN build under 175kg, 25 litre capacity, 100hp twin with good suspension. So why dont they? The bare 790 engine weighs 48kgs.
