The pleasure was all mine, friend
After all, it was YOUR multi-coloured scribbles superimposed on a Google map and those photos that suckered me into this NZ-thing all those years ago (yeah, it's all your fault):D
You were still catching fish then and none of us knew what a GPX was... :lol3
And to think we nearly finished up migrating to NZ (instead of Oz) in the early '80s...

You could loop off the T2B route before you get to Raglan, head into Te Awamutu and do a loop around Pureora Forest and the GCONZ, that's in Mike Hydes book. Or you could swap the Whaanga road, Aotea Harbour, Kawhia, Pomerangi etc and come back in at Piopio. Lots of options.

Have you got anything north of auckland and a cunning route to avoid the big smoke (as much as possible)? Want something?

Auckland is a bit hard to avoid, especially the skinny bit between the harbours. However, if you have a look at the route (via the link I posted - here it is again https://www.adventureridingnz.co.nz/gps-tracks-rides/new-zealand-t2b-route/page/3/#post-25237 you will see that we go from Riverhead then round Scenic drive to get to the new tunnel and through to the get off at Drury. There are other ways around south Auckland, especially if you are heading down the Seabird Coast to Miranda or through the middle of the Hunuas.

Have a look at the part of the route north of Auckland, through what used to be Rodney and through Kaipara up to Whangarei District and tell us what you think.

For either section, if you have other suggestions then we would love to hear them. Ideally post them on the advnz site.

    Cheers

Sounds like a side to side (S2S) route :) Surely you would want to start that at the whitebait sandwich shop at Mokau????

Instead of a top to bottom, it could be like the old Southern Cross rides. All four corners.
    Now that'd be a ride !

No PC BS here mate :lol3
The start point varied every year but you started at midday at one of the capes in the North Island, then had 24 hours to the next Cape, then 24 hours to the next Cape, then 24 hours to Cape Palliser then 2 or 3 days to get to Bluff. You could take any route you wanted, just had to be at the next checkpoint in 24 hrs.
I would always mean some night riding, either late into the night or an early getaway.
