Once again I hit the road and remembered my camara. Here are some shots of the AMA Reno Supermoto held on city streets on Oct. 2. Red Bull was providing some serious support for this race. More on this later. Up Horsepower Hill, somewhat of an overstatement. Into the chicane. The chicane looks like this on the first lap. The dirt section. The espresso section. Hey, we're civilized up here. After a short sprint, riders brake hard for a 90 degree turn, first while leaned right... Then while leaned left. Coming down First Street at about 78 mph (cop radar gun verified). Then into the final turn. The technique was to brake hard enough to slide the rear wheel right, drift into the turn, then gas it down the straight to Horsepower Hill. Doug Henry nailed this all day. Speaking of Red Bull... The AMA officially sanctioned SuperMoto knobbie. Doug Henry's and Jeff Ward's Hondas. A privateer. Note the rain which stopped things for about an hour. A bigger than privateer team. And for serious size, the KTM team. Their pit was really a small village with a cafe... a workshop... and a bunch of bikes. Travis Pastrana was not having a good day. Some names we know.
