I figured. I was just out for a quick loop on my 500. I’ll get down to BH the week of 15th. I’m just down the street in BH ( Blue Hill).

Denver in early May isn’t a place that even crossed my mind, you still had white stuff on the ground.

New destination is being kept a mystery because of this COVID thing nothing is set in stone until you are actually there…I’ll let the cat out of the bag soon enough

Somehow my bike ended up in a container all by itself going to this mystery location…there was enough space for another 7-10 bikes

There might be more than a few kicking themselves they weren’t following me once I do the reveal. :lol3

Definitely crossing over US border to leave the country, which might also mean crossing a Candian border, so to answer you more thoroughly...yes, kinda sorta, not really!! :jack

Let's not get ahead of the story, need to cross America first...

There may or may not have been a 'squatch sighting somewhere, and it might have been on an adventure

We headed to Stecoah and the Ironhorse Campground via a few cool back roads, and then it got a little weird, weirder than a possible 'squatch sighting

It, not my first time here, we park up, say hello to four guys leaning on the rail by the main clubhouse and none of them acknowledge us or even reply!

We walk into the office and the interaction went like this with the girl behind the counter...

    - Hi, welcome to the Ironhorse
    - Hi
    - What bikes are you riding?
    - Does it make a difference?
    - Yes, what bike!?
    - KTM
    - Oh!...just a minute let me get my map!
    - Is there a problem, are you full?
    - No, but because you are on KTM's I need to show you where you can put up your tents, let me get my red pen!
    - Ok, here's a map of the property, not to scale but if you head over to the backfield that's where YOU go!

    - Really, the campsite is full?
    - No, but you're not on a V-Strom and they requested because they have most of the property booked with 'their group' that all motorcycles that aren't V-Stroms not be allowed near them!
    - Are we allowed to eat here?
    - Let me go check, she returned with a yes

I've been in a few motorcycle campgrounds that have groups in, but this is a new one on me, we were there for a day and a half, and not as though we were looking to engage in deep conversation, literally not a single rider there acknowledged we even existed...it was just weird. I never knew V Strom owners were such an elitist group.

The following morning we took our time getting out of there, a damp night and nothing worse than packing a wet tent, so a drying session happened

Headed over to The Dragon, Dirt bikes on The Tail of the Dragon…seems sportbike riders REALLY don’t like being overtaken on a paved road by a dirt bike, who knew! We're just making friends all over the place

Then off to the Wheels Through Time Museum in Maggie Valley to pay my respects to Dales wife (if you didn't know, read this) and to see my English buddy Andy who is always entertaining, and a former RTW rider

I love this place and could stay here for days just taking photos, here is a very small sample

The Crocker, that's about a million dollars right there

A short ride down the road to the Blue Ridge Motorcycle campground as the rain was headed our way

    Small, but dry

That was unfortunate, I thought that ALL bikes were friendly on the road.

Maybe they are just embarrassed? You know, a bit of bike envy.

Motorcycle snobbery at its finest? I understand a group reserving a large area of the campground but it doesn't sound like the situation was handled well by the campground and certainly, the VStrom riders don't sound like they were very welcoming. Sheesh. :confused

This was a first for me, it was just strange

    Probably true :lol3

I don't blame the girl behind the desk she was young (first job maybe) and was following what she was told, the riders on the other hand, just strange to be like that...oh well!

Being snubbed by a clan of V-Stromboli’s (darn auto correct) riders is kinda funny and sad at the same time. If they only knew what they were missing out on by not being more open and inclusive maybe they would either change their ways or book the whole campground to keep out the low life’s.
Thanks for the update and excellent photos.

I really like that close up shot of the red Indian. That photo has a good vibe to it, somehow does justice to such a beautiful vintage bike.

I understand it when some owners group hires a field for their meet participants only. But what the heck is up with other bikes “not near them”? Must be fun lot to be around. Perhaps not such a bad idea that the girl put some distance between you and them :lol3

I have a friend who was at the V Strom rally. I'll have to ask him why they're such snobs.
