Yeah, I do have the alarm. Any other suggestions from your experience? It’s my first GS so just getting used to where all the hiding spots are. It’s surprisingly tightly packed for such a huge bike.

...good thread, but I dunno. Most bits I've bought for mine I've sold. The stock GS needs very little.
IMO, I know it's fun to 'build' your GS, but it's just an addiction - needed? Prolly not...

    Stuff I tried and sold:
    • Seat Concepts saddle (stock comfort seat is about the same)
    • Touratech Rallyeform Skidplate - finally decided I like the spartan look of the stock plate.
    • OEM headlight guard - kinda weird-ish
    • AltRider headlight ptotector - meh!
    • Puig Crashbars - won't fit with MAM covers
    • Machineart Moto Mudsling - I don't need it
    • Machineart Moto handguards - too heavy
    • Wunderlich GPS shader - meh...
    • Mosko panniers - real good kit, just like my TT Zegas which I already had. But I'd be happy with the OEM Varios.

    Stuff I kept:
    • GSA windscreen - dark smoke - stealthy
    • XCreen deflector - must have
    • Denali D1/D2/EZCan - all good quality lighting for that mighty GS 'look'
    • Teknic headlight cover - used on long rides only
    • Machineart Moto valve cover guards - best bang for the buck, I'd say a 'must have'.
    • Machineart Moto ADVance guard - does keep spooge off the engine
    • Tankbag of your choice, I like the Mosko
    • That toolbox thingie, will I ever look in there again?...
    But that's just me...

Excellent post my friend. I appreciate the candid, honest response. Here's my current take on things and what I've added:
    • Wunderlich sun shade for TFT screen - awesome!
    • Wunderlich sun shade for GPS - also nice
    • Wunderlich dual USB that replaced the (useless?) power adapter thingy I'd never use otherwise
    • BMW topcase (may get side panniers someday)
    • AltRider metal headlight protector - love it, may get the clear version to try out
    • Weiser LED turn signal inserts - outstanding!
    • Vizi-Tech brake light modulator - awesome and tunable to your tastes (I got the SB3)
I think I'll look at the Machineart Moto valve covers and some brand of windscreen that is dark tint. When I want to go offroad in anything but double-track roads, I take my KTM 500 EXC which I beat the hell out of and couldn't care less what happens to it...it's a tank anyway. So, for me, I'm wanting to setup mainly for roads and the occasional dirt road that you could probably drive a car on. I have hundreds of miles of such roads around me, which is why I bought the GSA, but it has it's limits (or I don't trust myself). As such, the extra protection besides laying on it's side is all fluff for me.

Oh, I did forget the one thing. I did add led turn signal bulbs...
Gotta also have those inexpensive OEM radiator guards.

Photos do not do these valve covers justice. They're gorgeous. This was a 1250HP at MaxBMW with the 719 package Shifter, levers, reservoir covers, pegs, valve covers, HP sticker

So no $900 aluminum valve covers?

    Edit:
$827.52 each for left & right which doesn't include that HP oil filler cap.

A lot cheaper to add to the build as opposed to adding them after delivery

$2700 for some bling? Even more when you buy ala carte? I’ll pass.

Yeah I almost pulled the trigger on the bumonts since they fit the gsa racks and the lock and key is very trick.. their hard bags are pretty cool as well... my light set up is exactly like yours but no darlas.. seemed a bit superfluous .. waiting on altrider skid plate and crash bar support to be available

If I liked the look I might go for it, but it’s a bit much for me. The price is also a bit high. I am waiting to get the Machineart Xheads when them come out for the 1250.

    Akrapovic Black Ti slip on
    Rox risers

    Alt Rider headlight guard.
    Alt rider sidestand enlarger
    Bridgestone AX41s

Still trying to find valve cover and radiator protection. And a better steering damper.
