R12150GS question Can someone here confirm if Touratech or SW-Motech or AltRider any of the lower engine bar protection works in tandem with MachineArtMoto cylinder headguards? If so, which one?
Who’s researched or purchased either the Sargent backrest or the Chinese copy made for the 2013-2018 GS?
By super proud you mean expensive? LOL. Touratech USA prices are stupid. If you look at what these parts cost in Germany, I doubt freight and import tax is that high but what do I know? AltRider, everything is designed and made by hand in USA. and by hand I mean they have machines but it’s not robots. Both are respectable brands. If you want to buy a rip off of their designs, try AliExpress or eBay. You can find copycats of their stuff direct from Beijing but the quality could be sub-par...it’s a crap-shoot. SW-Motech, Bumot...good places to check. amazon will have some knock-offs too.

Has anyone used these adjustable foot pegs made by BMW? They sound cool on paper. The rubber part is spring-loaded, so when you stand it presses down and your boots contact the serrated portion. My only concern is they look small. https://advdepot.com/products/bmw-adjustable-rider-footpegs
I love them. Sitting or standing work great. They aren’t huge like some, I think they are just right. I’ve had them on every GS I’ve had since 2015. On sale for 20% off at bmw right now as well. https://www.shopbmwmotorcycles.com/ My original install -> https://advrider.com/f/threads/krussells-gsa.1020583/#post-25516020 They are then same width as oem and about a 1/4” smaller in length.
Speaking of pegs, I just ordered a set of PivotPegz for the 1250. I had these on the '12 GS and loved the feel. They have a good Black Friday deal going on as well.
I found this one at black dog https://blackdogcw.com/bdcw-rear-rack-multi-function-bmw-r1200-1250-gsa-lc-2014/ Looks pretty rugged and about 50.00 less than the other two.
My 2018 GSA is pretty well loaded...but I’m always in the lookout for a new accessory to make riding more comfortable or improve the bike. Considering a couple more items, possibly a comfort seat and backrest. Here’s what I have now: Black BMW Panniers BMW Top Case with BMW seat pads installed RAM iPhone holder with mount and wireless charging puck Tourtech USB port in place of BMW power plug Black Puig Windshield Windshield reinforced mount Paint protection on gas tank Black BMW powder coated crash bars Black BMW Winglets Clearwater Erica lights with amber lens covers Machineart valve covers Machineart front fender extender Wunderlich kickstand plate BMW front light protecter BMW LED turn signals BMW rear brake pedal BMW foot pegs Machineart Mudsling protector rear tire Radiator guards Two electronic key fobs and two traditional keys Garmin Nav VI BMW GS tank bag
Is anyone aware of something like this that replaces the pillion seat and goes on and comes off just like the seat using the key?
Blackdog makes one they call the helipad or something. That takes up the whole space (pillion and LR) with one piece ... https://blackdogcw.com/bdcw-helo-pad-bmw-r1200-1250-gsa-lc-2014/ and they have just the pillion piece too ... https://blackdogcw.com/bdcw-pillion-rack-bmw-r1200-1250-gs-gsa-lc-2013/ So too does Altrider ... https://www.altrider.com/altrider-l...00-r-1250-gs-gsa-water-cooled/pid/1349/cid/14 So too does SW Motech ... https://sw-motech.us/products/luggage/luggage+racks/SEAT-RACK/ Nice to know that all the "research" I've been doing can have some usefulness since I haven't pulled the trigger on a rack plate just yet. I asked the BDCW if they had theirs in silver and they said no, because it's anodized black, hence it will hold up better that if it was powder-coated silver. I am not sure why they can't anodize it silver for discerning customers....but that was the answer I got. They at least answered my email and that is something and appreciated.
Nice, thanks. Man the Blackdog version is 1/4” thick aluminum... impressive. The SWmotech seams reasonably priced for what it is, maybe I’m missing it but don’t see a 19’ 1250 GSA version, perhaps the 16-18’ year would work. https://sw-motech.us/products/luggage/luggage+racks/SEAT-RACK/4052572026441.htm
You are right. Not sure why I thought that was for the 1250. But if the locking mechanism is the same it might work. That bike has been available since 2018 in Europe. I wonder what the delay is? Edit: According the the fine folks at Revzilla the SW Motech will fit on the 1250....allegedly. https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle...gs-adventure-r1250gs-adventure?sku_id=1035493
Would love to know what backrest you come up with. On my 1150 ADV, I have the Corbin seat with the backrest that can be placed either behind the driver or the pillion. Seat is comfortable and the backrest is perfect....or I just got really used to it. BR comes off in 5 seconds. Goes back on in 6 seconds. And the seat is customizable, making it exactly the color I wanted it, mirroring the stock enduro seat. I haven't pulled that trigger yet for this bike, but it is on the short list. Always looking for an improved cockpit experience on the 1250,ADV I tried out the Puig handlebar wind blocker. I had very low hopes for it, thinking I would try it and pull it because it looks....whatever. But it turns out to be a nice addition. That, with my VStream Touring windshield and Ztechnique brace, has made my cockpit almost pleasant, 100% better than the 1150 ADV and probably 20-30% better than stock. YMMV what with height and posture differences. But I am extremely surprised/pleased.
Yes, I’ve had Corbins on a few of my bikes, and like you, I like the easily moveable/removable backrest. I’ve come up with a few options, mainly the Corbin, Sargent or BakUp. Then there’s the Chinese version of the Sargent set up, but I have t seen anyone successfully install one yet.
