Stocking up for future use?
The Badja Forest Rd was smoother than usual, perhaps now a 'Road of Bones'?
or maybe it was just tidied up for the logging off Peters Rd?
Anyone one need anytjing from Adelaide. Bought myself a new proper 4wd wagon (I'm not sayin....nah, y'all just make fun of me, but its got the same euro 2.8 CRD as the Holden Colorado, a Merc gearbox, and USA transfer case & diffs)
So if anyone needs anything brought back from Adelaide that can fit in the back of a wagon, let me know. Leaving ADL Tues morn, back in CBR Wed is the plan.
Yep - see a lot of them on the roads these days - mainly parked !!!
I think Wiz may have bought a LDV!
Aren't they with Cummins power?
Bergdonk got it...Jeep KK.
Ticked all my boxes for a small-mid size turbo diesel 4wd with proper low range in all directions, traction control, under body ptotection, & front bar with winch. Can you beleive its actually 11cm shorter than a T31 X-Trail? Looks bigger, but its not.
This model has only had one recall for the active headrest, and unlike the petrol variants, the euro TD engine and Merc gearbox have very few, if any, issues. There's absolutely nothing on the forums, here, in South Africa, or in the USA. The chrysler v6 petrol on the other hand....errg. And you dont get the Merc tranny with the petrol either. And the american transfer cases and diffs are some of the best around. I think this model is an exception to the common Jeeps plagued by issues. Pity they only made it for 2 years!
I added up all the mods on this one and without any labour for fitting, there's $7960 worth of aftermarket gear and upgrades. I got it for $14k with dealer warranty.
The only thing that annoys me is a TD with a timing belt rather than a chain. They stiff us herevwith 80,000km interval, but in the USA, it's 100,000MILES, or double at 160,000kms. Can't tell me Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Colorado are harsher environments... But I only need to find someone familiar with Colorado's to do any work I can't. And no HID projector headlights. Need to upgrade those somehow.
Anyone wanna buy a blinged out T30 X-Trail? Please... there's 5 cars and two bikes here on my residential block already, this will make six cars! Maybe I should apply for a dealer licence?
Anyone a member of the ACT Chapter of the Ulysses Club or a view on it ?
The Caltex servo/truckstop/restaurant on Polo Flat Rd in Cooma has changed hands. There's an article in today's Domain about it (https://www.commercialrealestate.com.au/news/cooma-caltex-sold-for-1-8-million/), I wonder who will own it now? Last couple of visits there was an nice Indian guy working the cafe, he rides an R1.
I'll repeat my self re Polo Flat servo;
Hopefully it'll improve, but current word is to avoid them for diesel especially.
This weekend AMCROSS is at Ti Tree the property on the northern end of Cooma, near M&T Motors. Be a good couple of days dirtbike racing to see. Note that its not at Ti Tree racecourse where it happened in years gone by. Be a bit hard ATM there too, Duntroon is camped there, running urban military exercises from around town for a few weeks.
You going for a look Steve? I'll be there Sun morn, taking the Ten12 for a run, few back roads to Cooma staying at Bunkhouse tomorrow nite
Dunno yet, but is on the radar for sure. Lots to catch up on still after months of rehab/inactivity. Juniors Sat pm is often the best racing, before the track gets too chewed up. Hopefully the guys have set a good track. When I used to set the tracks, like when it was at Ti Tree racecourse and other places, I always thought of Phillip Island, wide and flowing. Others like it tight and micky mouse, reckoning its better to crash going slow. Problem is you gets lots more crashes when it is tight and hard to pass, with bikes in low gears, they spin out easier than in higher gears at higher speed. Admittedly when it goes wrong at high speed it can be a big one though.
I got out yesterday on my S10 for the day as it happens, down the coast for lunch and caught up with @Outback Rambler who was keen to compare S10 suspensions. Mine won and his needs work, even if it has an Ohlins already.
Great day at the AMCROSS
Question. I recall someone moving on a pair of yellow pelican-style cases a while ago, and I seem to recall it was in the local area-ish.
