No new shed mate, just cramming our greatly reduced holdings into the double garage at the moment. The cleanup folks are coming to evaluate tomorrow so we are starting to see some signs of movement, albeit 4 months after the fires went out. Once that is done we can move on a new shed. There's a lot of activity and not enough people, plus the virus, so things are moving slowly. EDIT: I just checked the VIN and it's an '04 model that seems to have a 12/03 compliance sticker on it. But it is definitely orange. All over. I got a 12v supply to it (no battery) and the odo says 12,800 kilometers. Low, low, low. Apart from the scratches the late, great @Gwilli put into it (I was there) the bike is really shiny still mostly under the dust. Some fluid leaked on the trip home in a trailer, I'm unsure if it bled from the forks (doesn't seem so) or what, but fuel taps were still on and fuel was dribbling out of it when I got home. I suspect the rally bashplate might be grotty with old oil change stuff, I will find out soon enough.
It's easy to get frustrated in lockdown, but Im definitely over the "quality/longevity" of current fuel. Take for instance this varnshih deposit from BP untimate (98). It is just 3 months old and had stabiliiser at the recommended rate. However it just turned into really, really sticky slush. The photo is from a float bowl. The portion at the right was cleaned with thinners for about 15 minutes to remove the 0.1mm green film. The needles and jets were equally coated and are soaking in the ultra sound overnight. Im starting to warm to the idea of running the carby dry before storage and letting the gaskets/O rings look after themselves. At least the rebuild is easier as you dont have to spend ages removing this rubbish.
Tried Caltex 98? I haven't had any issue with it and have left fuel in plastic breathable tanks for over a year. I did try and run the carby out though when parking it.
Must be another one of the issues you have at your place with Telstra and the phones Doug, or your solar install, or combo, or...... Cooma sourced Caltex or Shell 95 with stabiliser in it is fine for 12 months and more without issue.
Out doing some recon today for " diarite crik st " Hawthorn rd still a shitstorm , but lotsa good sidetracks developing , spotted gum the same with big widow maker all but blocking top of hill .. Cassia clear , perchole clear..
Scrutiny will reveal its clean but heavily scarred buy burnt scrub .. Nope few yrs old now , just a runabout , for recon duties , transport then shanks pony , sherco is strictly for st riding .... I bought the honda. After hiring one in Ha noi, 2500k in mtns over there, convinced me it was a solid unit, Lotsa cheap / good accessories out of Thailand , Thai built honda ... completely unspectacular but handles neutrally ,versatile , fitted coils front and rear , screen , turn key & ride....
Nice ride around Tallaganda singletrack today Still loving the little Beta 300XT, but had a quick spin on a Beta 200RR - what a brilliant bike that is - heaps of grunt - so quick and ight ...
A phone call last Friday told me that the cleanup crew would be here this coming Friday to set up for the following Monday. So they just rolled through my gate an hour ago.I'm not complaining, just constantly bemused at how disjointed this effort is since it got a by-election kick along. I also thought I'd found a replacement TTR250, one with a mere 300k on the clock for $3500 that has been advertised since early January. Some bastard bought it about 3 minutes before I rang up. I hate Murphy.
