I took a 60k ride to get the newspapers today, a nominal 45k round trip if done directly. Is anyone else riding this last week?
We had a nice lap around northern Tallaganda - first time I've been back there since the fires - some parts just beautiful - others, some regrowth but also a lot of weed - needs more time ... Early start this morning for the ritual solo lap in the southern section ...
Hey guys, I am looking to buy a Husqvarna 701. But with the plague, travel restrictions and no local dealer it is very difficult to get a close look at one. I was wondering if any one in the district has one that I could have a look at and check the size and fit ? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Recently found my favourite local loop: Tantawangalo Mt Rd-McCarthy's ft-Summerell's ft-Postmans-Cattlemans and on to Alexander's hut for a breather. Then return. If I feel like a bit more climbing down and up Mogilla ft (went only as far as the threatening private property sign, anyone in the know what the deal is further down?) Good fun atm since the usual track destruction by our 4wd friends has been pretty minimal this holiday season...
Ahh, the things I miss locked up in the house. I'll bet he saw my post in the 701RR build thread and got the idea!
['No Pic Picard'] Mostly because I'm still in the market for a new shed myself I've given up on my 'luxury gold plated custom skillion roof' design. It's too high next to the fence [on the high side] and would require DA & BA. The sliding doors will actually be a 1.8m wide opening 'triple stacker' so a bike can be wheeled in/out without needing to open the roller door. Going with a standard gable, 'Garaport' now. Lowers the roof line at the fence to below 3m, which is under DA & BA requirements. On a down side, started to look for what bikes I may be able to ride without any foot control (Chronic health issue). Came up with the BMW C650GT 'maxi scooter'. CVT gearbox (not a DCT or Auto, 'proper' CVT) and I think it has combined braking system, so just the one brake lever on the handlebar. Found one at CMC... ('TeamMoto') Well, thought I did. Appears they were listing it on their website as being in Canberra, but sent it to another TeamMoto dealership earlier in the week. "Thanks for the wasted trip to Fyshwick arseholes. I don't think I'll be back." Guess I should have called first, but I wanted to get there as soon as they opened today to beat the heat for a test ride. And how hard it is to delete a listing from their own website? FFS. My current favourite would actually be the electric BMW C-Evolution. (Electric = no gearbox at all!) But for some reason BMW think there is no market for it here. They have been selling them in Europe since 2017. It has 100-120km range, where every other e-scoot I've looked at is like 40km! There's nothing else here in Australia as good as the C-Evo, yet they say there is no market? Screams of an ADR rule non-compliance they are not willing to fix? And then there's the Honda X-ADV If I can't ride an Africa Twin.... (Maybe I still can ride a DCT 'Auto' AT using the handlebar gear change control, dunno quite yet.) But I don't know what gearbox and controls the X-ADV has, and there's none in Oz AFAIK?
