Adam thank you for the Sargeant Seat review. Just got mine and I like them.

what you really need is to compare a rallye bench seat and a Sargeant seat. my bike came with a rallye bench seat and i bought a sargent last year right before i ride 500+ miles down to SC for the off-road course. it was very comfortable the whole time and i wondered how bad it really would be with the rallye seat. i use the Sargeant most of the time when commuting and stuff, but whenever im doing anything where im standing a lot, i ride the rallye. the first time i put the rallye back on after the Sargeant, it was like riding on a rock. when i have that rallye seat on and i sit on it for more than 30 minutes or so, it a real eye opener as to how comfortable that sargent seat is. but having that narrow rallye seat and being able to slide back makes a big difference when im up and down.

I've said it over and over everyone with a GS needs:

    • Off Road & On road seat
    • Soft luggage & hard luggage
    • Nav VI + iPhone mount in case one or the other fails
    • Off road wheels and on-road wheels
    • Darla for safety, Erica for night riding
    • A tall windscreen for touring, a SlipScreen for off roading
    • Shocks that won't blow up off road set to your weight

Or save the $10 grand, buy a 690 Enduro and keep the GS on the road :p

All kidding aside, I totally love being able to convert the GS to an off road bike and I'm guilty of having two of everything for this reason but I think most people should pick. Is the GS for off road or on road and equip it that way and use the savings to buy another bike :)

I think BTHuss has a great point though. The sergeant seat while standing isn't great. Doable but not awesome. The OEM seat does fine for that. You know me...i'll probably eventually grab a rally seat.

Cracked open a beer, got the Luggage grid reinstalled!

First things first, changed the oil. 1000 miles since the break-in was performed but it's a winter tradition to do Oil + final drive so I did them anyway

Black Subframe, black Motor and black final drive deserve a black luggage grid.

Jesse Luggage shipped today so all that's left is to install the racks and then I can position the Final Drive Breather + Touratech ESA Oil Reservoir and we're basically done!

The other option is to spend another 10k and buy an R1250RT for ON road then you can use and abuse Rosie and give her what she likes :)

In the US next week and ride the Triple black to Asheville to collect the RT, leave the GSA at Eurosport for the Tractive's installing and collect in June for the TAT - Will call you .. CDR

Halle is just being prepped now:

Black luggage grid looks great. Really ties the rear together nicely. Build is looking great as well. Spring is getting close...

That black luggage grid looks great! Did you also get the luggage rack (or whatever the BMW term is for the frame that holds the aluminum cases) powder coated?

I'm talking about the superstructure...I found they call them the side case carriers. I can't remember if you use those or not?
