Winter Doldrums I - Riding Down the Wash - Owyhee Front

Winter doldrums have set in. Putting together a few videos from 2018. 90% of the footage hasn't been used before. This trail is in one of the more interesting washes on the Owyhee Front. I was riding my XT200 and a friend from Canada was riding his DT200 2-stroke Dual Sport. The DT is a nice old bike which I don't believe was imported into the U.S. Clips are a little longer so you can see more of what the trails are like rather than 5-second snippets shown from a bunch of different trails. We did ride some trails on the TW's but on this trip we rode primarily the "Alternate 200's". It's still a lot of fun no matter what you're riding.

Winter Doldrums II - Trail S200 - Owyhee Front

Again, longer video than normal so you can see the full effect.

Ride up trail S200 towards Tiddie Springs on the Owyhee Front with my son. I was riding a TW200 (Purple Bee) and he was on his KTM450 EXC. This is a good warm-up trail and if it's a cold day, you won't stay cold for long. Lot's of neat scenery riding up and down through the canyons.

For the record, I've always pronounced Tiddie Springs as in Tide with and I/eye like the laundry detergent not with an "e" sound like the human body part. You pronounce as you like. :lol3

Winter Doldrums III - Waterpocalypse - Sinker Creek Style Owyhee Front

Waterpocalypse - Riding up the creek without a paddle. Same trail on 2 different days early in the riding season. I mixed parts of 2 rides with both ejfranz and my son Stig which were on different days, on 2 different bikes (mine TW & XT200's). Other riders cheated using DT200 and KTM450. Later in the summer this creek is darn near dried up. We had fun on both days!

Winter Doldrums IV - The Bobsled Run - Owyhee Front
Having fun riding down a small wash on the Owyhee Front. Imagined what it was like if I was sledding down a Bobsled Run...only on a TW200. [IMG] It is winter now after all! [IMG]

Winter Doldrums V - Desert Single Track Owyhee Front

Riding some desert single-track out in the Owyhee Front. Fun until you fall [IMG]

Disclaimer: The Winter Doldrum series of videos are much longer than I normally post but it's winter and what else are you gonna do so you might as well think of them as short story movies. Want a quicker fix, speed up the video...you have options.

Looks like a nice trail to ride. Wish we had more off road here in southern Ontario.

Winter Doldrums VI - Sphynx in the Desert Ride - Owyhee Front

More riding with a friend from B.C. Canada on a quick loop through and over some draws on the Owyhee Front riding area. We finished the loop at what looks like the Sphynx. At least that's what the rock feature reminded me of as soon as I saw it.

He didn't put it in 4x4 was my first thought when I saw the picture he posted. When I came home later in the evening I slid down the same section (and beyond) so there is a good possibility he did have it in 4x4 which is what we told him to do. We've only had to pull one vehicle up the hill all year and it was one of my daughter's car fwd only. We've used 4x4 all year to get out and no problems...till now maybe. It's supposed to start warming up in a few days.

The neighbor helped him out and lent him chains, so he made it out. I'm gonna try this morning without chains to see how it goes. I have chains for backup if needed. Hopefully not!
