    Ah yes, I should have added to my post that I bought a 30 year old road bike from overseas and had the whole process managed by a local company that specialises in importing vehicles from various countries. So do use a company like this as they will advise you on eligibility of any vehicle import, the (long) process, and COST.

    Whatever you decide, make sure all your paperwork is done before the bike/s get here. My understanding is that if the paperwork is not here before the bike arrives, it will be turned around and sent back, at your cost. Make sure it's spotless. And make sure there is no asbestos on it(unless it's a ferry, then it's fine). If it was me, I would remove all the brake pads just in case, especially if it is an older bike.
