It's always Great to meet new friend's and connect with the one's already made!
Good to hear...how bad was the wind on the bridge?
What? You have friends?
Not bad at all.
Base camp at the rally.
At the swap, sold everything I brought, thanks guys.
Now that's a knobbie!
Hard core, hope you and your doggie made it back to South Carolina safe dude.
So many thanks to all of the organizers and those lending a hand when needed. I'm especially grateful for Drif coming to pick me up in Hayward to haul my damaged and medicated carcass back to camp. What a saint! Thanks also to Romatsu and Reveille for leading me out to the glorious Hayward ER. I wanted to visit Hayward again one day, just not under those circumstances!
Friday morning I woke up, stood up and had instant major pain again. Loaded the rest of my crap up, drove home and went back to the ER. One of my ribs had finally broken. Still not sure if it had been a hairline before and I finished it off that morning or if the muscles had been holding it together the entire time. Anyway, at least I still got in well over 1,000 miles this week and over 350 of those after I unintentionally evacuated my bike!
Nice to put some faces to names, make new friends and meet up with some old ones again. Here's a random smattering of pics:
Out on the Northern Highlands:
Site for viewing the Paulding Light:
Copper Harbor breakfast. A few minutes later the wife and I were banging the skid plate into the pavement on Brockway Mtn.
Single trackin the DR.
Side effects of following my 100hp 'dirtbike' through the Dead Horse trails.
Speaking of Dead Horse...
Was surprisingly dry out there.
Found some sand to play in.
His KLR got some unneeded braaap on the way to the Keweenaw.
Spent Friday at the boat lift.
Got there early, had the place to ourselves and got on some pretty good fish right away, Mrs. Moose had a big Wally on the hook, got over excited and broke the line in about 5 seconds, to her credit, the reel was set to full drag.
Papa Lobster's son Nathan and soon to be grill friend, shortly after this pic was taken, he stepped in an underground bee's nest, should have seen him dance, think he got stung 3 times, ouch.
To my wife's credit, 25 years of me teaching her to fish, she landed this one, yes that's a Blue Gill, hybrid I believe from what locals have told me, they cut the reproductive organs out of them and release them back into the lake, they get pretty big, I caught 2 hybrids in Munising Michigan a couple of years ago, we put them back in the lake for someone else to enjoy.
Another great Rally in the books.
On a positive note I'm still working through the 1200+ emails at work.
I plan to select all mine and delete. gotta start the week clean!
First night is gonna be rough tho
I had to leave before paper made it up the hill.
"Respect my authoritay!"
Thanks Bonebag, Brit, and everybody else. I had a fantastic time. I rode, I drank, I laughed, I cried, I pooped a little.
It was all good.
It went limpingly, they left the next day at 8pm. My wife really dislikes camping.
Hey Boo Boo if you look down here you'll see that ole Asshole Ranger.
