There is motorcycle rental in Cali owned and operated by Mikkel known as Mike. Motolombia but he is busy I don't think having a competitor in, say, Medellin will hurt his business because he has closed/removed Medellin location reducing to Bogota & Cali. There is also Motorcycle rental in Medellin but they don't carry Dual Sport motorcycle. If you and Mike (the one that own Hostel in this RR) work something out.. be aware it is difficult for foreigners to get a loan in Colombia so you will need to bring lump of cash from Canada. Importing tax in Colombia is very high so motorcycle is expensive than in USA/Canada, FYI.

Anyway, since you are in the area, I suggest check out Santa Rosa de Cabal and the Termales over there is nice.. Nice 5 mins off-road to and from the Termales. Check it out on google.

You will LOVE Medellin. I know I do and would like to make it my 2nd home in short future. Working on it right now. Anyway, hope your stator arrive today and get your bike up & running.

I'm going to Armenia this afternoon to get my motorcycle and really don't know when it will be ready? They said around 4-5pm. Then I'll be back here so if your in the Salento drop by for sure.

    Cheers

It's always nice to dream and I really don't know if that will happen or not? I have heard nothing but good things about Medellin and can't wait to see for myself. Thanks for the tips :-)

I didn't make it to Salento today, I got a bit delayed in Bogota

Only made it to Ibaque today. i have family friends in Armenia so I have a place to stay there so if your bike isn't ready, let me know. Anyway, I'll head for Salento in the morning. The road that looks super twist is that paved?, if so I'll take that.

I got my bike back and it seemed to be fine while riding on the road but when I got to Medellin in the traffic it just keeps shutting down, I know it's something with my power commander. I tried a different map today but it's still not running right. I seen one of the guys working on my bike try and hook it up to the positive and I yelled no!!! It hooks up to the negative post on the battery. So I'm not sure if it's screwed now of not now? I going to try some different maps today.

I installed a new map for my Power Commander and the bike runs fine until it gets hot then it stalls? Any thoughts on why it stalls when hot?

Ok I think I have figured it out, just before I shipped my bike I had the throttle bodies set, I guess one is loose?

I have the worst luck on my trips, at home I never have a problem but on my trips it seems that there is always something going wrong. The Hotel wouldn't let me work on my bike in the parking lot so I pulled it apart on the street. Everything seemed to be ok with no loose throttle bodies. Still can't get the bike running right so I decided to try and make it back to Salento and figure things out there? Brian is there and hopefully we can get it going again. On the hwy it runs fine but when I stop it won't run so trying to ride in Medellin with all the traffic is a nightmare with it stalling.

Have you checked fuel filter? Think it could be fuel injector or at least fuel system that's dirty and causing engine to sputter at idle speed?

On my f650 the idle actuator needed to be cleaned, it would run full out but not at idle.

I knew Mike L a little bit in Dawson (YT). Heard he had a place there. My wife is Colombiana and we have plans to ride Dawson to Colombia, maybe in a year. Buen Viaje.
