We'll both Chilean(wife and I) and will be riding from California to Tierra del Fuego starting September 1st 2014. Would be cool to meet some people along the way. We have friends and family scattered across the country.

    Hi everybody,

I am planning to go to Bariloche from Puerto Montt, using the Paso fronterizo Perez Rosales.

I understand I have to take a ferry from Petrohue to Peulla and then take another ferry at the Argentinan side.

There´s anybody have information about the ferrry company, prices, and schedule?

    Thanks in advance!

    Enrique

    Hola mis amigos Chilenos!

I'm visiting Santiago for the next month and a half with work and have a couple of days off here and there. I would love to rent a bike and find some beautiful riding outside of the city. I could go to the beach or the mountains. Either way would be a good adventure.

PM me if you have any connections or suggestions for rentals or routes. I would be happy to link up and ride with some locals. No one knows the roads like you.

    THanks!

    Hello,

Looking for some advise on where to stay in Iquique when the Dakar is in town in January.
Needs to be cheap'ish and safe moto parking.

    Thanks in advance.

    Nick.

Continuing a friend's ride from San Francisco to Peru on his KLR, now I'm on it from Ecuador and Peru south to TdF. I'm now in Huaraz, Peru a week or two. Stay in touch.

    Hi Guys,

Ive got an 04 DR650 that needs a new transmission in Rio Gallegos, Arg, and it looks like Santiago is my best bet from here. Do you guys know of a good shop in Santiago that you can recommend? Thanks!!

If you have no luck in Santiago try Dakar Motos in BA.

Chile has very reliable shops at big cities. You should not have problem if you can take the bikes to Osorno among other main cities.
I was a few shop/dealers in Chile and they should be able fix the bike for you.

"Main Cities", say that again. Puerto Natales has one (1) MC mechanic. On vacation for at least 3 weeks now. Few bikes compared with most SA places.
    Question of luck.

In Puerto Natales, see Sr. Samuel just west of Calle Bernardo O'higgins on Calle Gabarindo. Excellent. [Note: Samuel just bought my 2009 KLR650. Clearly he recognizes a good moto when he sees it. :-))

Claudio Nilo at MiMoto in Santiago is very dependable. Not cheap though but worth it.

Hi there Bjoern! Great to hear from you. Looks fun with your truck & canoe. I'm coming over in late Sept. Hoping to bring my KTM Super Enduro up from Punta Arenas to Temuco. May be a bit chilly around then what with all the snow lately but I'll see. Last time we met you were organising the GS Challenge. Take care. Love to Sarah.

    Greetings Bjoern....
Three of us from Texas are going south through Pucon area just before Christmas this year. We wondered what your advice would be as to where we should hanging out for Christmas? Puerto Varas? Chiloe? or over to Bariloche? Thanks......O.B.
