Buell xb12 heads are here, need to find some pistons and Port the heads

Cleaned up my intake manifold, factory casting wasn't the cleanest.
Right side before, left after obviously.

Might as well shine it up while it's apart.

Did you end up with 4" on the stretch with stock shock position? Looks good. I'm guessing the shocks were for snowmobile? Bolted right up?

I have to tell you that you are my new hero kid. This is exactly what riding motorcycles is all about. Don't take crap from anyone for this bike. Bill Harley and the Davidsons would love that thing. I personally do not know anyone that can ride a 1200cc bike off road like you can. :clap

Thanks, I have yet to hear any shit from anyone.

Weisco XB9 pistons are in the mail. Motor should being going back together soon. Working on fixing up my oil and fuel tanks, I need another stock peanut tank to redo my tail section.

Is there some benefit to using xb9 pistons with the xb12 heads?

Xb9 pistons have a rectangle dome due to the xb9s short stroke and large bore to fix the compression ratio. When you put Xb9 pistons in a larger stroke sporty or xb12 it increases your compression ratio to roughly 12:1. It's a proven power adding mod that Eric Buell suggests himself.

Not much of an update but I started mocking up a new kickstand set up the other day. Gives me better ground clearance and a sturdier design 20170423_141137.jpg

In the middle of a move and job change right now, progress will be picking up in the next month

Well it's been a year since I've made any real progress but the builds back on. With the precision hands of @ClutchDumpinDan we got the buell heads ready for a carb

Exhuast kit is here, planning a 2-1 high pipe with a real muffler
    20180216_161540.jpg

Gapped the rings, dropped the new pistons and freshly bored cylinders on.

So these came in today.... Turns out I'm not ambitious enough to design a new set of controls when these can be had for a less than the tools needed to make them cost.
    20180218_155438.jpg
I know it's unlikely but does anyone know if the magura hydraulic clutch slave cylinder will fit behind the chainsikle low pegs ?

Finished up the engine and threw it in the Frame so I can figure out the exhaust.

Feels like it's almost ready for a test ride but there's still allot of work to go.. .

Love this build. But I have a thing for liter+ 400# dirt bikes. : D

What rake angle are you aiming for?
