This is going to be a roll up of my shorter trips out and about on my '17 Africa Twin, based out of central Arkansas. The Ozarks are my back yard and the TAT runs right next to my house, so it's a pretty good location for amazing riding both on the road and trail. Enjoy.

A running tally of the upgrades to the bike:

    Honda center stand, tall screen
    Oxford heated grips
    Rox 1.75" risers (I'm 6'5", a necessity)
Givi racks (I had hard cases but returned them due to multiple issues)
    Bumot guard
    SW Motech bars
    Seat Concepts upgrade
    Mosko Moto .... everything... :)
    Honda 650 pegs
    Shinko 804/805 tires

I put over 1000 miles on the bike within a week of purchasing it at Honda of the Ozarks in Springfield MO. I then took it on a weekend trip to South Carolina for a good friends military retirement. Heading east is a good excuse for hitting some of the best roads in the country. Namely the Cherohala Skyway and the Dragon. While I hate the OEM tires I was thoroughly impressed with the handling and comfort of the AT. Admittedly after two 500+ mile days to get home I was a little sore. I'll take any excuse to stay in Chattanooga as well. Good food and a fun city.

I bring entertaining travels companions, and I found the limit of the OEM rubber.

I decided to test the OEM tires on the dirt and gravel roads around my house. NO. Anything over 25/30 mph and the rear end just drifts wherever it likes. The front end inspires no confidence either. No surprise really, still had fun.

Pilot Rock Rd, which makes up a portion of the TAT, is 3/4 of a mile from my house. If you've ridden it you'll recognize the view. I cruised up there on my way home from work the other day.

Last weekend I decided I needed to kill what was left of the stock tires, as the replacements were on their way. Hwy 123 is a frequent destination for my, as you'll find out :)

One of my good friends from work has a C& that needed to stretch its legs for a bit. I headed up the gravel of Pilot Rock to the lookout for a bit and then met up with him to cruise Hwy 123 and 7 to Jasper, AR. He headed home and I completed the 123 loop and then headed home on Indian Creek Rd, another dirt portion of the TAT.

If you're in the area and need work done, Twisted Grip is highly recommended. They work on just about anything. Quality work with great attention to detail. Plus there's a cute shop dog... Win win.

Quick sample of the asphalt portion of 123. Found the limit of the Shinko rear on wet roads :)

It really is. Most people think Arkansas is all dirt farms and ugly. Nope. The whole northwestern corner of the state is a gold mine of amazing roads and trails.

I live in way south Missouri so I get to Hwy 123 and other stuff often. I've been on that road a 100 times but it sure looks different through your lens. Arkansas is a beautiful place to ride, sometimes I'm disappointed in their choice of paving materials as it eats new rubber rather quickly but its a small (or, medium) price to pay for great riding.

I accidentally found a FREE Thanksgiving meal at the Ozark Cafe in Jasper a couple of years ago. I did leave a healthy tip.
