Should we consider keeping the riding in the Southern Hemisphere during the early part of 2008. Then bring it to the Northern Hemisphere in the several months afterward: April - October? This would give the best available weather patterns for riding. Ideally summer would be best in the Northern Hemisphere, but we have to respect the Southern riders equally...

Thoughts on the "way of the pig"?

I think you're onto something, Komito. I would think we can figure out a route around the Southern hemisphere in the summer months and then a transition to the Northern hemisphere for those summer months. Maybe something like OZ - South America, Africa, sub-continent, Japan, North America, Europe, Russia, East Asia, back to OZ? I'd think that 4-6 months should be more than enough time to go 'round each hemi if we wanted or needed that long.

Obviously any route will depend on who we've got where, but this is a start.

PS Have we considered the idea of identifying one person for each region/country to act as a central point of information?

I suggest we start listing in the first post riders for each section or start a new thread for it and keep it in one convenient post.

I am sure a few of us over here in this beloved green isle could ensure the pig got a good viewing of our fair land..

I'm in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, so probably next to the other North Texas people. It looks like the pig is going to have quite the convoy taking it across this state.

Everything is bigger in Texas, so it's only right ;-)

Nothing against any of what comes before, but this amount of structure is very "un-dude". Send the bugger off and when it meets ADV friends AND is abused, AND comes back home, declare victory and award medals. Most of us set off without firm plans and consider the fellowship of others to be the secret of our journey. We need pictures, however. What if you just sent a camera and instructions? Maybe too much trust? I think not.

Goatroper has a point. Tell the pig to follow either the sunrise or sunset, give him his notebook with directions in case he gets lost & send him on his way.

I don't think we need a special pig. Just a run of the mill oinker, with guts & determination. Like most ADV rider types.

yeah, good point. maybe we are over engineering this a bit. I'll have the pig in about 2 weeks and will of course post pics including his log book that i already have. I'll start him off with a trip around Tassie and then hand him over to 'Justal' in melbourne around the end of Jan. From there, lets just see what happens??????:eek1 :clap
