Deleting a for-sale post after the item has sold makes sense . Why store info that is no longer relevant ?

This seems like a good idea at first glance , but often items are not sold for the asking price , and sellers generally mark the item " sold " and move on .
The " value " of an item can be further distorted by buyer's immediate need for a particular part , or seller's need for funds .

Correct - and consistent with the New Airhead classified guidelines on page 1 of the classified thread.

I have made one purchase from @slmyers , and Spencer was professional and responsive. He is not an ADVrider socialite. ;)

I thought "old ads" were removed after 30 days, just as in the Flea Market.

No one is deleting threads in the Old's Cool forums. What inmates (and moderators) do is delete old posts, in the two flea market threads here, for items that have sold, or items that were offered up months ago and never sold. As well, moderators may delete posts that should be handled through PM.

Threads in the general Flea Market forum do get deleted, at some point, after they're marked as sold or if they've gone stale.

i have purchased one item from slmyers. it was exactly as advertised. it was not cheap. it was shipped very quickly. it was exactly what i needed.

but just as every dog has its day, every item for sale has its price. i paid the price i was willing to pay. i am a happy camper.

would i purchase from slymers again? yes, if the price is right for me.

that gas tank cap with key which someone purchased almost made me jerk my paypal.

as far as the adv minimal post issue goes, that is above my pay grade.

I've determined that sometimes our bikes require a small blood sacrifice in service to our petitions... :pope

Cool. Many people will look to the post history of an inmate when considering whether to purchase from him or her. I certainly invite @slmyers to participate in discussions here, to establish at least a track record of participation, and not be seen as someone just coming here to sell stuff. But that's his call.

    He's at it again. https://advrider.com/f/threads/new-airhead-flea-market-thread.1028901/page-12#post-37365740

To put this in perspective I bought a 5 speed recently rebuilt by Bob's Motorwerks in Montana that had a few K on it since the rebuild when the bike was dismantled. I recall paying around $450 Canadian Pesos for it. To make a fair comparison it did not have the rarely used kickstarter but otherwise identical in status. So his price is is US dollars making this gearbox 4 times what I paid. This is NOT the airhead way. We tend to share our parts at reasonable prices as the goal is to keep our antiques on the road, not in showrooms.

When I needed to have the speedo on my LS rebuilt, as was going to be without a bike for a few months slmyers sent me a loaner... I'd never met the guy before nor had I done any business with him when he made that offer.

If that's not a class move, I really don't know what it.

Hopefully you understand how very fortunate you were to find a recently rebuilt transmission , one rebuilt by someone you know , for so little money .

Supply and demand, if you don't need it don't buy it and quit judging.

You gotta to give him that he has been showing us some eye popping and jaw dropping items/parts. Prices wise, it’s his freedom and buyer’s wish. Not our business.

As a moderator here, I deal with all manner of crap from private sales gone bad. As long as an inmate doesn't generate grief for mods or others, they're free to list for whatever they wish, and then delete all their posts, too. I think it's weird to have virtually no trail of reference, but it's their choice. No need to bash someone for not otherwise participating in the forum.

You may have missed my point but that's fine. I get what you are saying.
But aren't YOU judging? We all judge things and have opinions.

What’s the going price for a r80 gs style oil pan? The eBay pieces are priced around 100$ but they have all been there for a while and the newer one with out any bids.

Haven’t found a new one either so just looking for what’s reasonable price.
