I'm planning a scenic route for a little work-related trip in a couple of days and I was looking at google maps to get a preview as to what kind of roads I might encounter. I hit "street view" and low and behold I see a bike coming at the google maps car. sure enough, it's an airhead on Highway 1A near Caswell Maine in 2014. Looks like a '71? /5 to me. I like the roll on the back seat, what looks like a rainsuit, sneakers? and no gloves... Anyone care to fess up to being the dude? He should have at least waved at the Google maps car ! gmap.jpg

    Lets see some more airheads!

He couldn't wave at the google map car because with the wheels that far out of round he couldn't take his hands off the bars. :-)

... but you'd think that where he's such a giant of a man, he could keep things in check...

Those look like Krausers turned vertical to me. Maybe to give the big lug atop some foot wiggle room.

Ha! I wave to whoever I please!

That’s a lwb r60/5 from ‘73... I’m wearing leather gloves, and those are the ‘canadian’ edition blundstones on my feet.

The red dry sack behind my butt holds my tent, air mattress, sleeping bag, and little ‘stadium’ chair.

I rode that stock bike from my home near London Ontario to the end of the tail of the dragon and back in 4 days...(three nights).

That’s a tich over 4,000 km in four days on all secondary roads, no super slab.

Funny to find myself on the old google!

Oh, and I am a big man...

And I’m mistaken, the tail of the dragon was the year after this picture, so on this trip I rode around the gaspe peninsula, beg your pardon all.

Here’s the bike before I left, likely the eve before I left home. Tank bag not packed apparently

You want pictures of Airheads on Google maps? Here is my bike, 1975 R90/6, with me working on it. That is also my work car, a Washington DC taxi cab.

Picture is almost 10 years old I think but I was able to find it even now on Google Maps.
