Every year I get my annual review the bennies are included as total compensation. All the years I worked for the guberment was the same thing. Bennies cost money any way you look at it. Consider if the company you work for dropped your health ins, how long would you stay there? If 1 employer is offering $30.00 and hour and a 2nd is offering $27.00. Plus ins. which one you going to be better off with?.........Still, 111K plus bennies a yr for a cook on a boat ain’t nothing to sneeze at! The concept of the union is a good idea in theory but it’s a concept to easily ( and to often ) abused!

Yep, my biennial trip to Metlakatla is now cancelled. I was scheduled to get on the ferry in Haines tomorrow, Wed, and because of time constraints had to cancel. They're saying the ferries may be running next weekend.

As much as I love it down there, I'm not heartbroken about not going since I was there 2yrs ago and enjoy myself around here in South-central AK.

Maybe next year. Long my favorite place to kayak and paddleboard. :thumb Mark of Metlakatla
