Hello Everyone. I'm leaving Central Illinois on June 27th, heading for Deadhorse. Will be traveling up through Montana and do the IceField Parkway. Up through Tok and on to Fairbanks, arriving there on July 7th. Have rooms set up in Coldfoot for July 8th and 10th. Room set up at Deadhorse for July 9th. Set up to do the Arctic Ocean shuttle on the 10th. Then head back down to the States to be at the BMW MOA Rally on the 17th. From there, down towards San Diego and then back home by the end of July.

If anyone would like to ride along let me know. i am pretty much hoteling it the whole way and have already got reservations confirmed through to Salem, Oregon. Would love some company, especially along the Dalton.

I too am planning a ride through Canada and Alaska from north central Colorado. This will be the fourth time I've done it, each time totally different. Reading the above thread I notice various inmates stating that they will be at a certain place at a certain time/date. How do you do it?. When I do a long trip I never know where I'll end up day by day, much less a week ahead.

Less than 30days to go for departure, things have been crazy with work trying to get it all in before leaving… (Considering leaving a day early to get out of the US before the 4th of July.
I’ve done a dry run of packing and getting tools together, I got a Spot Device that I will test out next weekend Camping at lake Alpine CA, a short shake out run of all the gear, and a chance to camp with my lovely wife before the trip starts!
I also updated the main blog with camping gear and tools. http://ridealaskasolo.blogspot.com/

You lucky guys. As the countdown closes on, my plans look all the more tentative due to problems at work and what not. I think I'll know if I am going within the next couple of weeks.

I'm leaving Saturday and not planning on being home until early Sept. No itinerary to stick to, just do as I please. I have more time than money so will camp exclusively, preferably free sites away from developed campgrounds.

I can understand the work end of this adventure, in reality they are footing the bill for the trip, no pay no go. and with two tentative contracts sitting in the balance for me the past month and next few weeks will be a killer, but still I totally need the break, and in the end.... I could never get this time back.. I'm going! I hope you are able to make the trip yourself

Leaving Weston, FL on Monday, 6/17, and planning to go all the way to Deadhorse and Inuvik on my way back. Bike is all ready, packing is done and I'm ready to go. Planning to do the whole trip in 8 or 9 weeks...

Looking forward to meeting some of you up North!

Haha I wish, the biggest thing we are bringing are the 2 sleeping bags. Those are in the 2 dry bags on my bike. Hers has a memory foam pad, inflatable pad, the Big Agnes bag and pillow. Mine is the same but without the memory foam pad. They end up packing to the same size because mine is a tall and hers is a short version.

I figure we could save lots of money by sleeping comfortably.

We will also have plenty of empty space in the tail bags.

Not sure yet, but probably around the last week of July/first week of August. Planning to go to Inuvik after Prudhoe Bay, and from there the Cassiar, Prince George, Vancouver/Seattle, Moab and keeping going SE, via New Orleans. When do you plan to leave, and from where?
