Just take more gas and snacks..

    :)

    Kidding. Gpx would be helpful.

Otherwise, stay to the right at all intersections?

Been lucky to have a guide last few times.

A few of us from NEO are clustering at Forest Lodge the first weekend in August. Would love to have the files.

Also would be super appreciative of a "guide", gas and lunch/dinner on us!

While I'd love to join you as I've been there a bunch of times. I'm almost 6 hours away and I'm on vacation with the family that weekend.
Here are the tracks from Marienville bike (which is now Penoke trail), Marienville ATV, Timberline atv and the trails up at Rocky Gap. The only thing missing from these tracks Is the small section that is the west side of the C loop in Timberline. I never rode both sides. If you need any help with the tracks, let me know.
Here's a link to the Forest service trail map.

We used to get a cabin at a campground called Whispering Winds and then we'd truck to the trail head. It was about 20 minutes from Marienville or 30 Minutes from Rocky Gap. The place also had a pool :-) They had an upstairs above their office with 4 bedrooms. It was great.

You can ride right from the lodge/campground. All the good riding is on the marked trails, a local is only helpful if you have big bikes that cant trail ride. This place also sells passes which come with maps.

Thanks. That's been our MO for the last few trips. Was just looking to meet new folks and maybe discover some lesser seen spots.

    Cheers!

Ever since the rainbow people came in the 80's they cracked down on all the 'interesting' riding with helicopters and sheriff cars that ram and break hips.
And now theres trail cams. Meh.
It used to be just 2 rangers who couldnt ride on dual sports.
I look at some of the old trail highways near towns and they are completely gone and overgrown, all the kids do iphone riding now.

Dang. I'm so sorry. That is a bleak vision. Certainly hope us neo weekend warriors haven't fueled that inferno.

Admittedly, I am no super enduro junkie. Just a guy trying to expose his family to ideas he never knew as a child, or even an adolescent. Any grace from the local populous is super appreciated.

We've camped at the Forest Lodge Campground. There's a group camping site that is right on the trail head where we had 6 tents and plenty of space.
