With all of the craziness in the World, I just wanted to get away...

    ...from everything...

    ...and everyone.

    After my last Nevada ride...

    ...I wanted more...

...and I knew it was the perfect place...

    ...to escape.

Just me, my motorcycle, and awesome trails...

    ...but not everything was easy.

    Day 1: June 7, 2020

Things had been so hectic, I wasn't sure if I'd get away for this trip, and had limited time to get ready.
I think I'm ready and at the last minute was able to get 10 days of vacation.

My fuel strategy was posted on my tank bag so I wouldn't need to do math while riding.

I've got these tracks loaded into my phones. The tracks are divided into my fuel strategy.
There were some alternate tracks in there as well.
The route is partly my own, but a huge thanks is due to @BigWan, @LittleWan, and @MasterMarine for tracks, route advice, and inspiration from their ride reports.

    Clockwise

In addition to a phone app for navigation, I wanted to carry the Benchmark Map Book, but didn't really have room for it in my luggage. So I photographed the index page, plus every 2 page spread for the entire State of Nevada with my phone. Now all I had to do to check these maps was look into the Gallery on my phone. This worked well and was very much needed for several reroutes.

I briefly considered trailering my bike to the Vegas or Mesquite area, but didn't really have time to plan for parking. I wasn't looking forward to it, but the first and last days will have to be primarily paved highways.

It was windy and hot, about 110 in Phoenix. Because I work nights I didn't leave Phoenix until about 4 PM.
That's fine as I was looking forward to the sunset and cooler temps.

It was a night of fighting crosswinds on boring highways.

Around midnight, I found a gravel pit not far from the highway. I set up the tent behind the windblock for a few hours of sleep.

    Day 2

I fueled up with a breakfast burrito and noticed the bike is still to clean.

North of Alamo I jumped off the highway onto Mail Summit RD...

...and headed out into the Basin and Range National Monument.

This is Basin and Range country. Great Basin Desert.

Over the next week or so, I will cross about 35 mountain ranges...

...and race across just as many valleys.

After this post, you can stop following along...

...as the scenery doesn't change much.

I had a little difficulty finding the track I wanted, and wondered if I was gonna be found out here like this.

    There it is.

    Up I go...

    ...up and over...

Cherry Creek Summit between the Grant Range and Quinn Canyon Range.

After that, another basin. Railroad Valley.

Things got loose and silty for a ways crossing the Pancake Range...

    ...until reaching the Lunar Crater.

Lunar Crater is listed as a National Natural Landmark. Meh!

    A little bit more pavement...

    ...then Saulsbury Wash.

I'll be following the NVBDR a bit here as I wanted to re-ride some of this.

Awesome pics @dave6253, though I've only ridden the bit empty once, I can't wait to get back down there and ride it again.

Look forward to what comes next, it's beautiful country down there and so sparsely populated...perfect.

I'm guessing there is no phone coverage out the. Do you carry a Inreach or a trained pigeon in case things turn sour ?

Nevada has pretty decent phone coverage, surprisingly, but yes, there are places with no communications. I don't carry an electronic tracking/survival beacon thingie.

The fairing is from Yenkro. My build thread is here.

    I roll into Belmont...

...where pretty much everything was closed.

    I continued north.

Since I'm on the BDR still, I see my only fresh moto tracks of the entire trip. (Besides my own.)

I headed up into the mountains again over the Toquima Range...

...on the fun mine road over Northumberland Pass.

I was ready to call it a day, but found no suitable spot for my tent...

...so I raced across the Big Smoky Valley towards the Toiyabe Range.

I found a spot to cook up dinner...

...and settled in for the night.

If you get over a little farther to the east, and you haven't been there already, or even if you have, swing by the hot spring at Duckwater. It's very nice
