My goal is to explore the Eastern Sierras, but with a couple big deserts and other mountain ranges between me and there...

I may as well enjoy riding desert roads...

...to see the sights along the way.

    Once I reach the Sierras...

I find more great roads and finally, a little color.

There may even be some night riding - Under the stars.

Thanks Dave - always a pleasure to see another one from you! I saw the post where said you were getting it ready and I've been waiting.

It just makes my fall pictures I've been taking seem so, well, lame...(I did a Capital Reef, Hite, Blanding, Monument Valley loop last week on the Concours - that was a pretty nice ride and very little traffic)

And that rock picture, that couldn't be taken in Death Valley, that had to be done on a huge budget Hollywood sound stage. That is so cool with the Milky Way aligned and the exposure and lighting - it is just perfect!

And, some explanation please of that tail light pic and the stars. How do you do this stuff! It's like watching a magic act for me. I'm not sure I want to know the secrets and maybe I should just enjoy the show.

I spend a couple nights in the shop getting everything packed. Why does this always take so long?

I'm in no particular hurry. I finally get out of Phoenix by late morning and head Northwest.

I have 11 days off work. I'm excited to be in my new office. The office chair is not quite as comfortable...

...but the views and riding are spectacular. This is my first (and probably last) solo journey of the year, so even the co-workers are better. :D

It feels great to twist the throttle.

I quickly start finding thing to take photos of.

That's one muddy creek down there.

I leave the highway and head up the mountains...

...and down the other side on Chicken Springs Road.

Normally these roads are really fast, but due to all of the big storms recently, I keep finding sandy sections.

    [IMG]..........[IMG]

Joshua Trees pretty much mean I'm in the Mojave Desert now.

I hike across the wide wash next to the road to find a pretty wildflower scene. Many desert plants bloom twice a year.

It's a long road, but kind of a short-cut to Kingman.

Near Interstate 40 I found a place to eat. Looks like I'm a few decades late.

This sign advertised a vacant lot. I'm hoping to avoid these places as much as possible.

The last few miles I had been skirting the security fence for this huge place.

I jumped on the freeway for a short distance.

Wow...... I am going to look at an F800GS in a couple days and picking another one up in the spring for the wife. These pics have just sealed the deal as to why we want to switch to ADV touring, simply amazing pics!!
