Made it to Fields, great day of riding. Did a section I skipped a couple years ago and really glad I did. Ran through an area that reminded me of the Alabama Hills, really cool rock formations.
Fields is out of ice cream, but I made the cut for a bacon cheeseburger. Life is good!
Very nice ride report so far. Eagerly waiting for more updates!
Pushed onto Willows HS (thought it was Whitehorse, but the Fields locals corrected me). Couple folks camped here, but it’s nice and quiet.
This will do for the night.
At 7300 ft, pics will not do justice to how jaw droppingly beautiful it is here.
looks like you are well on your way
riding solo has its benefits
i had similar goal in mind for 3 years
got lost and hurt and definitely freaked out for moments
but last years last attempt brought success and the biggest shit eating grin I
have had in years
i live in central BC and the riding time is short and not so sweet sometimes
but i am lucky that we have 700 000 kms of dirt in the province
enjoy your trip
hope its safe and sound
Back in Fields for fuel, camping on the Owyhee is definitely one of the highlights of the ride. What a phenomenal spot, though getting to it sucked and is definitely not big bike friendly.
Camping at Alvord tonight, looking forward to it as today was a long, hot mofo. 170ish miles in 90+ temps.
You should try crane Hot Springs since you are making the rounds......
Have to hit it next time, not going that far north. Heading up into the Steens tomorrow night, then over to Hart Mountain.
Love the Steens! Stay healthy!
Oh hell yes!!
Now I'm really bummed I couldn't make the trip. This all looks spectacular.
Best of luck on getting home safe and sound.
Been an easy day so far, killer views the entire way.
Easy day went a bit sideways when I ran into a private road
Worked out fine, rancher told me of a crappy road that would take me up to the Steens. He wasn’t wrong, super rough two track, but at least it was passable.
Made it to Fish Lake and down to Frenchglen for fuel. Looks like maybe t-storms tonight, could be interesting.
Where is the "super crappy road" up to the Steens? Assume you were coming up from the Alvord side?
Alright, I saw the chair in at least 3 pictures. The Prophet will not be amused by such transgressions. I know you understand, but, openly flaunting the rules? Otherwise, seems like you have an awesome trip in the making.
I always wonder about those crappy roads. Last year, during the Giant Lopp Rally, we came across several gated roads that were clearly on either NFS or BLM land and as such; public. Yet, they were gated. We learned later that often times, grumpy ranchers out that way will gate or post signs incorrectly on public roads and right-a-ways.
At the Steens summit, DAMN!!
