When: Father's Day weekend. June 17-18 or so.
Where: the Alvord. The glorious Alvord. Mysterious juxtoposition of the flat and the vertical.
Why?: Because you should. Because that mountain is so big. Because the mind bending of the expanse of desert and your bike demands it. Don't get it? Don't come.

    details to come.

Really nice campground at Page Springs, Steens loop probably will still be closed though. Still its a nice ride around the range, and of course the Playa is fun.

I'll keep it in mind. I'll be in state from the 7th-21st (give or take, schedule very flexible right now). I'd love to share a beer with you instead of electrons.:freaky

It's 425 miles from my house, going through Burns, then via hwy 78, then a right turn onto the Folly Farm road (Road to Fields).
For the full effect return on hwy 205, or veer off towards Hart Mountain area.

Required reading,..."Give a boy a gun" by Jack Olsen, and "Miles from No Where" by Dayton Duncan.:deal

I'm required to be in Idaho City the first weekend in June. Anytime after that Daisy and I will be there. Whiskey is easier to pack than beer.

Would love to back again in June . Went last May via Summer Lake , Paisley , up to Hart Mountain ( Hot springs very good !) over to Fields- Dennio , camped at Mann Lake ( big fish but flat camping I.E. windy.!) Rode the lake bed under a full moon , soaked in the hot springs . Count me in... P.S no gas in Frenchglen !

What Idaho said.. I wouldn't mind some sun [though conditions are fickle there - no matter the "date" I'm all for tweaking (ha!) and aiming for a warmish and DRY stretch]. I saw "that" pic of Daisy so Joe's vote counts as at least four. Thanks Road Rash!

    Vint,
I was there a couple months ago and the fat bat had gas at the Mercantile. We'd be well advised to check that out when the time comes though.
Remind me to invite Wach's and his KTM crew from Bend. Met them over in Fields then and they know ALL the good shit.
