This is great by why does it continue to occur in the 1st place? Seriously in 25 yrs on the internet and car and bike forums I've never experienced what is happening on ADV since it went to ads, sure seems like an odd outlier to me :dunno Even the horrible TT site plastered with ads does not do this.

It's a fair question. The simple answer is that ad spammers are always looking for new ways and strategies to run ads that inject code to create a redirect. We're paying for a service called confiant which basically checks every single ad call and ad that comes through. They've been very good since we implemented in January, almost no issues in 3 months. The spammers found a new technique to bypass their detection and then they do sporadic attacks across the web. I could barely get through a business insider article the other day without having my iphone redirected, it was bad and they have 100x more resources for this kind of thing then we do but with confiant things have been really stable.

So the reason it pops up every few months for a short period of time is they find a way through, then confiant and other similar services figure out their strategy and block it. To be clear it's not US signing up an advertiser and then finding out they're a spammer, it's a spammer buying through one network that then goes through the exchanges we rely on. Once we know the network that even allowed that advertiser to come through we block them too.

It's equally as annoying for me as you, I don't block ads for myself so i'm seeing everything you do. In a perfect word we'd only work with industry companies and we're working on that but it takes time. We've got KTM, TouraTech USA and Dainese all supporting ADV now.

^^^ Thanks, useful to know. But now I wonder if the cost to manage spammers outweighs the $/benefit to ADV and user experience? But not my Q to answer I suppose.

Well, the full page pop up is back this afternoon. Only happens on my iPad using chrome and only happens on advrider.

Does not happen when I switch to Safari.

EDIT: now happening on Safari / iPad as well

I get all the Comcrap ones too, only through ADV, no problem with any other sites.
