Started tonight with removing plastics and soaking every nut and bolt with penetrating oil. This thing is a mess! P.O. apparently loved zip ties, so much so that I have found some structural uses I never knew about! Lol. Swingarm looks like crap but we'll see after sanblasting. Original plan was just new tires, clutch, oil, fork seals etc.. I think I'll be down to the bare frame tomorrow.....

Ran fine, 0 issues, so I got that going for me at least.

This is shaping up to be a fun project though. Bike was acquired on a trade, got the lift second hand, parts washer and 10 gal of solvent off F.B. marketplace, so I'm doing well so far in the wallet department. Hopefully that lasts too.

Gonna change color scheme away from this all blue fiasco as well. Wish me luck ya'll!

I've already learned that any color electrical tape is a fine substitute for a weatherproof electrical connector, proper mounting method for turnsignal stalks is shoe goop, and if your bolt is 3/4" too long, a stack of washers is just the ticket apparently.

A bit of progress today. Spent most of the afternoon playing with the kids so only a bit in the garage. I even managed to get the rusty exhaust off the head without breaking anything! On the "what the hell did he do that for?" front, I did discover a wood screw used inside the carb???? It was threaded into the float bowl about 3 threads. And holy crap!! That stock muffler weighs a ton! It's gotta go. And I cleaned up the subframe and it's the first shiny thing for this bike. Literally everything, everything, is covered in either oil, dirt, a little mildew here and there from being outside, or some combo of the 3. Still cringing about that swingarm too. 20200507_194523.jpg

Stalled for a bit with family obligations, but did get a fun toy for the girls! A little Amazon 300 dollar pocket bike. They are having a blast! Even mom rides it. 20200523_193238.jpg 20200523_202429.jpg 20200523_192450.jpg This weekend is free so it'll be out with the engine and off with the suspension.
