    Day 6 East:

Another late start, another tourist day. Started in Gillette WY.

Into the Black Hills...really nice roads and beautiful place. I can see why bikers are so attracted to the BH. Traffic wasn't as bad as I imagined, the park service got the flow going smoothly.

Out of the BH and I didn't even know that I was gonna go thru the Badlands. It was hot there.

Chain is acting up again, checked it and it is loose again, it has a slight kink in at least one link, but also the tight and loose spots are really far apart...seems like the concentricness of the sprockets are really off. Next time the wheel comes off I'll rotate the rear sprocket carrier and see how that goes. Made another half turn of the chain adjuster. Got to Murdo around 7pm.

It might be a good idea to get a new chain.

    Day 7 East:

Nothing to see today, just lots of corn. Had the latest start of the trip, didn't check out of the hotel until check out time. My license plate started to crack...this happened on my SYM Symba ride to AK too. Chain is still wack and the pulsing surge is getting worse. Hopefully a new chain will solve it.

Short day with nothing but more corn. Just South of Chicago now. Rear tire is almost done, gonna try to squeeze a couple more days out of it until I can get the new chain so I can do them both at the same time

Made it South of Cleveland. Tire is at the wear bar at end of today. Will ride the tire one more day to Syracuse where the new chain is and change both, so tire should be just about bald by the time I get to Syracuse. Chain surge is getting really bad, I have one more day to go until new chain. IL and IN are narrow states breezed thru them pretty quickly. Scenery is changing and looks much better now. Ohio looks nice with much more variety. Today is the first day where my body feels better, hardly sore. The first three days my body wasn't condition and I was tired. After that I was sore every day and it got worse until about day 6-8 where it stayed constant. My butt on the other hand is still sore and I have to move it around very often to get some relief.

    Day 10 East:
First day where it was mild temps all day, cool next to Lake Erie. Changed the rear bald tire and chain at the hotel. Almost wasn't able to seat the bead cause my new harbor freight air compressor wasn't able to crank out enough volume. Guess I'll have to stick to the other HF compressor. It'll be easy going the rest of the way to Bar Harbor, and enjoying the NE woods.

    Day 11 east:
Had another late start, but today is a short day. Started out warm in Syracuse, but got cooler as I went East, rained the last few hours and got cold the last hour. Vermont has really nice scenery, the roads are nice and twisty but are pretty shitty condition with the freeze/thaw. New Hampshire has nice scenery too. The new chain is so much better no more pulsing, that was really wearing me out. New tires feels really good too, smooth rolling.

    Day 12 East:
Boy it was a wet one today. Started off drizzly and just got heavier. First two hours was fine, I was very warm from breakfast digestion and pretty dry. Once the digestion was done I started to notice it getting cooler and wetter. By the last 2hours I was soaking wet, except my back. Water proof over layer didn't do much but my Rev'it insulation kept me warm even when wet. Only my boxers and tshirt are cotton so that felt a little cold and sticky. I started to feel chill the last hour and my hands/feet started to feel cold and numb. I was planning on going to Portland to do touristy stuff but about half way there after getting wet decided to just go to the next stay for the night. Mileage was originally about 300 but w/o portland it was about 260miles, still seven hours of wet riding. Grabbed a pizza while doing laundry. Tomorrow should be sunny and I'll head out the the lighthouse at the most eastern point of the continental US.

Finally here at BarHarbor, day before official start of SCBR 2021. Started the day doing maintenance, oil change, new spark plug, check valves, adjusted chain, changed air filter. Had a ~50 mile ride down to BarHarbor but was not satisfied so decided to ride around the island, this it is about another 50miles. Checking over a few last things to make sure everything is alright and ready to go in the morning. Gonna try to sleep by 10pm so I can wake up before 6am...for the next 10 days.

Good luck Bin. My Super Cub chain howls like a hound dog if it gets dry. I use Amsoil HDMP and it shuts right up.

Day 15 Westward: 1st day of SCBR

Naturally woked up at about 5:30am, did so yesterday too. Had a quick breakfast, packed up and off to the start of SCBR. Had a good day today, made very few mistakes that didn't waste too much time. Today is the shortest day with about 380miles. The next three days will be in the 500mile ballpark. Some folks went down, most are alright with at least one out. Some folks are having mechanical issues, should have been addressed before hand....We'll see how things will be to really test folks on tomorrow's long ride. It'll be an early and will take me at least 12hours if all goes well.
