@fastxr: Thank you for responding with a personal story. I am glad my RR was able to help bring some of your memories back to life. Few things in life are more valuable than that of a lifelong friendship and you maximized that friendship before it was too late. As the last year has taught us all - no one knows the future.

If you published a RR, please point it out. I’d love to read about your trip with Bill. If not, consider writing one so the rest of us can learn about you and Bill.

At the time I created a DVD with a movie of the trip which is stored in a facility in Honolulu. Since the trip I've retired and spent the last 5 years living in and traveling around Thailand and neighboring countries. Thailand and Malaysia are hotbeds of motorcycle culture, the ratio between cars and bikes is turned on it's head compared to the US and there is lots of diverse and scenic riding, little traffic law enforcement and outside of the cities the countries are frequently lightly populated. I've done trips to all over Thailand, Laos, Indonesia, Myanmar, Cambodia and about a year and a half ago, a month long trip from Bangkok to Singapore, riding the west coast of Malaysia south and the east coast returning north. Since then we planned to move and left Thailand for a brief visit with my girlfriends parents in the Southern Philippines when the coronavirus hit. We've been here ever since, unable to leave because of travel restrictions that make it impossible with the requirements of passports from two different countries. However it's beautiful and interesting here, not to mention incredibly inexpensive, so for now life here is good. However I didn't really mean to make this about me, I wanted to thank you for the effort you put into creating your trip report and the photos which triggered memories. Stay safe.

Mr RD, just finished the whole 18 pages. Very much enjoyed the thoughtful prose. Thanks for making the considerable effort to craft this excellent thread.

I've done a few RRs here and a blog about camping in a tiny trailer and envy your ability to avoid the "first I went here then I went there" writing style.

@Wolfeboats: Thank you, kind sir. I admit that my 2020 additions devolve into the standard travelogue and for that I’m slightly ashamed. But the Alaska portion comes down to asking that one question, “why?”, and not accepting a trite response. I had a lot of nights in February and March to ask myself, “What is so important about riding there? You could just as cheaply get on a plane and rent in Anchorage.” It really came down to going on a pilgrim’s journey and if I were to write it again, that’s what I would emphasize to the reader: Discover your Pilgrim Journey. Everywhere else in life is just a destination with pretty photographs... and there’s nothing wrong with that. But a pilgrimage is the path through one’s soul and that’s a far more exciting journey.

I believe that everyone here has at least one road that is so deeply interwoven in their life that it is effectively in her/his DNA. I know what road is in my DNA but I haven’t written about it yet because Elvis needs to take me on that pilgrimage. Maybe that will be in 2021.

It took me awhile to learn the basics of video editing. Let’s hope I get better at this.

The absence of music is intentional. Mute the audio or play your favorite music.

This is what I call “The Nursing Home Series”. You might need to be in a nursing home to enjoy these.

There is no "action", "drama", or dialogue. I'm too old and gray and for all that. These are solo Harley touring videos recorded using a GoPro7 Hero Black on a chesty mount.

@fastring: Try it now. I changed a setting.

Warning: Many of these videos have an undesirably low camera angle due to the broken seat that dropped my seating position 1.5-2 inches. But it's the footage I have and some of it is decent. Again, it's "Nursing Home Video". There's nothing exciting. There's no crashes. Nothing more than insects were hurt in the making of these videos.
