This is a picture I took this morning on the way home from the gym. It'll be awhile before I get to ride again.

Fortunately, I corrected the camera position for this video and possibly all of the remaining ones. When the HD Hammock Seat broke in the Badlands it dropped me about 1.5 inches which placed the windshield crossbar right in the middle of the field of view. I made some adjustments in the chesty mount before setting off from Cody to raise the field of view. This is the field of view I wanted. I try to limit how much the GoPro infringes on my riding experience but it's inevitable. I do not want to put the camera on my helmet. There's nothing I have to say that would add to the video. These videos are not intended to be short. They are for those occasions when you have too much time on your hands and nothing constructive to do. I leave the choice of music up to you.

Wow - great ride report and story telling RD! Ms. Strychalski, Mrs. Shaffer, Mrs. Lyons, and Mrs. Singer would all be very proud. I found many points of common intersection that made this a most enjoyable read - spent 2 years in Fairbanks, 5 years in Utah LDS culture, grew up in Hill City, and have a real fondness for Muskrat Love. Please press on.

    These are forgivable sins.

    You sick bastard.
    :fpalm

    Glad you enjoyed it.
I envy you for growing up in Hill City.

I bought a new 73 RD 350 except it was ruby red.... vibration was horrible (wheelies were fun) so I traded with cash for a Kawasaki H2, which changed my life... we have been to Alaska and Canada multiple times and we actually enjoy Yukon and NWT the best (but requires dual sport bikes as the roads are more dirt)

Not aware of a Canadian Insurance card, we use our usual Washington State mandated vehicle insurance card and have had no issues at the border.

High frequency vibration was the RD's only flaw. Perhaps it was geared a tooth or two too high. Otherwise it was a extremely competent and reliable bike for its era. I can tell from that picture of mine that those were the original factory tires so it must have been taken before I shod it with new Dunlops which I did soon after I bought it.

Supposedly it's only an issue using your USA insurance card if you get in an accident. Having the Canadian version supposedly speeds things up. I suspect it would never be an issue at a high traffic border crossing, but it could be a point of debate at one of the remote crossings.

I know. Muskrat Love, and then Donnie & Marie - it's like you are peering into my IPod. Stop it. Hill City was a true paradise for a young fella with a motorcycle back in the 70's.

Your iPod is a terribly frightening place. You might solidify its place in the pantheon of horrific iPods by adding the following songs & jingles.
    a) Any and all songs performed by William Shatner
    b) "Here comes Wrangler - one tough customer" (70's Wrangler Jeans commercial)
    c) "Feelings"
    d) "Afternoon Delight"
    e) "Escape" (the pina colada song)
    f) "Disco Duck"

Having "Convoy", "The Streak", and "Eastbound & Down" are the three Hail Mary's of 70's songdom that redeem you from the purgatory of your miserable iPod library.

Well dang. I just finished loading up Having my Baby, Skinny Women & Fat Cigars, and the entire Neil Sedaka collection and I thought I had things pretty well covered. Apparently I missed a few gems. Amazing how you can really ratchet up the miles with the right tracks. Thanks for the heads up on these - I hope I still have room.

The wind was so bad coming over the summit of Beartooth Pass that the lanyard to my GoPro got blown out from where it was tucked behind the chesty mount. Sadly, a couple of these videos were severely compromised. I saved what I could as a reminder of what great riding it was, but they're almost not worth watching.
