Looking for a 2005+ XR650L, any condition, price negotiable. Price for the moderators is $1,000 but anything between $500 and $6,000 is possible.

Running, low miles, and titled with choice mods preferred, but a rolling frame with no papers isn’t out of the question. If the place and price is right.

South of Maine, north of DC, east of Pittsburgh.

Not interested in any other bikes at this time, sorry. Just the XR650L please.

Curious why you want a 2005 or newer. Thought they were all pretty much the same.

They are! I'm just planning on a built-up "forever bike" and would like to start with something new-ish. Just a preference, not a hard rule.

It's very likely I'll end up pulling the whole motor and swapping in a custom. The newer and lower mileage the engine comes with, the easier it will be to sell to fund the rest of the build.

But again, if a ok-running 1999 with 38k on the ticker came along for like $1850...I'm all ears.

Just seeing what's out there, nothing is off the table.

There was a guy here on A.R.F. that would do a rebuild of a XR650L every now and then. I forgot his name, he was called the guru of the L. Anyway, like you , I keep an eye out for one of his builds as he always does the 2nd gear upgrade and a few other mods. Good luck with your quest.

That would be Steve, aka MCMA111. I think that’s his handle.

And he’s already agreed to build for me! Thanks for looking out. I just need a blown motor to send him, and something with wheels to bolt it in.

Back to the top. Ideally want something barely running for super cheap. Enough to limp it home and then tear it down for the winter. Thanks all who have replied so far.

Will also take a motor out of your shed if you have one kicking around. Let me breath new life into the beast!
